As it was our 40th Wedding anniversary, we treated ourselves to a suite - we had the Catherine Howard - and it was fabulous! Huge room, lots of beautiful furniture, comfy double bed and luxurious bathroom

We hope that funding can be found to stabilise the historic remains beyond the main hotel buildings. They are currently fenced off and somewhat overgrown, which will in time cause further instability and damage. It would really add a valuable dimension to the site if visitors could enter the remains of the buildings around the original front courtyard and also gain a clearer sense of the original entry to the castle.

Everything at the hotel was wonderful. We felt very relaxed and comfortable and really enjoyed trying out the different lounges and wandering around the grounds. We were able to book a guided tour from the local history society, which really helped to make sense of the site. The food was excellent and staff were helpful, pleasant and discreet. We hugely enjoyed our stay!

Disappointed that there was a charging station on the property that we weren't advised about. Also a bit disappointed that we couldn't explore the dungeon.

It was magical and enchanting to stay in a real authentic castle. Everything was beautiful. The staff were exceptional. The room was magnificent. Loved everything about this place and will never forget our night there.

Everything you’d expect from staying in a castle! Our room was spacious and elegantly decorated; the grounds were beautiful; there was secure parking on site; exceptional and attentive staff. There were ample spaces to relax with a drink from the bar and a sensational restaurant (chef) on site.

we went on a very warm sunny day at end of May and the very comfortable bed only had a full winter weight duvet which was far too hot. there were no alternatives provided either. and by the time we began to seriously overheat at 2 in the morning we thought we didn’t want to call down to reception - the prices for food were very high with little choice on the menu. quite a limited breakfast choice - you’d think a 5 star traditional hotel like this would have smoked haddock or kippers for breakfast. it seems the food choice at breakfast was highly geared to an American clientele - lots of Egg Benedict was being ordered this morning by no fewer than 3 tables of US guests!

Absolutely nothing.

We liked EVERYTHING about this castle --can not believe we actually got to stay there. It was my husband's birthday so we treated ourselves for 1 night here while on our 2 week trip. We stayed in the Catherine of Aragon Tower and the room was crazy -- the biggest 4 poster bed in the UK was in our room. There was a gas fire place in the room and a small wood burning fire place in the bathroom. The bathroom was HUGE and had a soaking tub and a walk in shower. The little extras like the robes and toiletries made it even more special. While old and antique, the entire castle and especially our room were extremely clean and comfy. If you want a treat, stay here.
