The single "room" comprising bathtub and shower with no separation between bathtub and shower and the shower not being above the bathtub. We've learned that this may be called a wet room. The shower was great but the aftermath was a bit messy. Lack of packing space (drawers). This is a new trend in modern hotels.

The stay was excellent in every respect. And by comparison with other hotels in Japan, on this trip, the Granvia was a true bargain while being extremely upscale. Great breakfast included in our fare. A stone's throw from the Kyoto Central station with easy access to the city and the rest of the country. (The signage from station to hotel on first arrival, was not obvious and it took us a while to find the hotel which is essentially above the station.)

It's just minor thing. There is no sound track when the hotel introduces itself, or broadcasts info around. I got used to listening to the music in the hotel channel. It is only here I don't hear any sound.

I chose the hotel because it's directly in Kyoto station. Our one week stay confirmed it was the right choice. We used the train, buses to tour around. It is very convenient to travel back and forth. We took buffet breakfast nearly a week: The food is prepared really the same every day. However, we managed to choose a bit differences on our own. Good thing is: Although it was very busy everyday, they do offer many, many dinner tables so we never waited more than 3 minutes. There are numerous shops by Kyoto station. Pretty enough to buy Kyoto souvenirs there, quite some shops also offer Tax-free services. Two things to mention about exploring Kyoto: - Kyoto is fairly different from Tokyo in the sense of payment. In Tokyo I could use my card for shopping almost everywhere. But in Kyoto, one needs to prepare cash very well. There are many windows to point that: Cash Only. - It is incredibly crowded in or around Kyoto. Although it is easy to find the bus or train station, one might need to preserve some time for waiting in a queue, or reserve the seats on the train. Often our buses were full. So when the bus stopped in next station, no one could get on. If someone had a tight time window for his/her journey, you may consider what would be the best or efficient solution to stay and to travel with.

Some of the decor is well used and worn, needs replacing or refreshing, eg shower curtains need to be updated with screens, carpet was stained and scuffed, bedside tables show scratches and heat marks.

Great location at the railway station, able to drop off and leave luggage while touring and then jump straight on the train. It’s a busy, well used hotel. Nice contemporary decor, but some of it shows signs of wear and overuse. Breakfast was buffet style but better than expected, especially great coffee and toast, with good cooked options too. Efficient staff and great advice from concierge for getting around. I liked this place, it was a great stay and good value.

The all staff are super nice and friendly, we were be settled in very far away room from elevator, we had 2 toddlers, it was very difficult for us to move everyday, so we were asking to change if possible, they did for us very soon to switch.

Location is excellent as it is right in the Kyoto station complex and the central gates . The breakfast buffet is very varied and you will be spoilt for choice .

Although it’s above the train station, it’s actually not all that convenient to get to Gion. Also, the lounge bar closed at 8pm and I had to pay to use the pool.

Windows don't open, no fresh air. Concierge desk is nice, and helpful for dinner, but unlike most hotels (a) it closes at 5, just when you need help with dinner and (b) it's not a desk, you have to stand to talk to them, and while waiting too. They also sent us to the wrong station for one sight (a temple outside Nara). These are all minor.

Location is great, at the station which is also a bus hub. Good breakfast, sometimes there is a short line to enter. Rooms are nice; we were overlooking the shinkanzen tracks which was cool (but no balcony).
