One staff member on the front desk wasn't very helpful, but a colleague politely stepped in and helped sort out our query. Although, could have been a language problem.

Most of the staff were very good, friendly and helpful. The hotel is right on the river and in a great position. Although when in your room sitting down, you cannot see the river. The onsen was really nice, clean and presented in the traditional way.

No kid price for dinner (7 years old boy same price with adult) , kid also not allowed to shared with parent as well and the cost of dining per person too high. Foreigner staff ability below the customer expectation.

The staff was great ; however on our last day we were denied access to the onsen before taking our shuttle to the station. We found this a pity.

Perfect location for a short stay, close to the old town, many restaurants and the morning market. Beautiful clean room with view on the river. The onsen on the last floor is fantastic and there is a more traditional and beautiful onsen for women. Delicious breakfast.

They may serve a better American breakfast. I understand people staying at their facility expect to be served a Japanese-stayle meal for their breakfast. But, some people may want to be served an American one.

The room was a bit smaller than I expected. But it was clean. The meals were excellent. One of my colleagues was served an American breakfast, which was not good, though. Only a piece of bread and a cup of milk were served. Nonetheless, it was excellent. The public bath is a bit small.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a free shuttle to the station and they served us tea everyday. They also provided a few japanese traditional outfits to wear around town and to the onsens. The views from the room were amazing and its location was great. Very close to the morning market and key sights

The shower curtain was a little mouldy.

The staff are extremely friendly (and can speak English). You're treated extremely well from the moment you check in. The Kaiseki meals were absolutely out of this world and we were looking forward to each dinner throughout the whole stay. Facilities include an indoor and outdoor onsen (only for men) which were amazing as well. Additionally, the hotel is located really near the Takayama morning markets and Old Town (literally outside your window). Couldn't be more impressed!

The room was shaking when upstairs neighbors walked around their room.

Great dinner - very well prepared, taste and environment. Room was comfortable as a traditional ryoken and with enough space. Very well located in the center of town and closento the station.

A minor point that Ryokan was in a very modern and tall building, somewhat jarring with the riverside of takayama, but does not affect the stay experience
