Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaAt check-in, I didn't want a Japanese breakfast. An hour later I changed my mind but the front desk told me it was too late. I was disappointed.
The music in the halls was a delight. The onsen experience was excellent. The nearby Isakayas and food mart enriched the stay.

A short walk from Minami Ito Station, and a free shuttle to and from Ito Station. The onsen was really nice. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was modern, clean and spacious.

Hong KongYou can hear the train passing sounds and upstairs people walking at night. There is no fan / temperature adjustment. It was not too cold that night so we didn’t turn the heater on but left the bathroom window open for ventilation. The full boards are not quite our type.
Like the onsen with not much people going. They had indoor and outdoor onsen. Rooms are spacious. Behind the hotel there is a 24 hour supermarket.

SingaporeLocation was not very accessible and the train station was so far away! The hair dryer in the room was very lousy.
I love the onsen pools and the free yukata! Staff service was great and there is this vending machine where you can buy fresh milk outside the onsen area.

Hong Kong- Its location was a bit far from Ito station, even from Ito-minami it also felt long at night because it was a very quiet neighbourhood. - The room was pretty stuffy. Especially after a dip in the onsen, it was super hot in the room and the air conditioning only sent out warm air. I opened the gliding paper window and it was better. - The toilet was a bit small and hard to get around. - Like many other traditional Japanese tatami rooms, it was not very soundproof. I got my earplugs so it was fine, but you can definitely hear people next room when they speak loudly.
- Like what other comments mentioned, I really appreciate how the staff tried their best to communicate even though some of them didn’t speak English very fluently. They had a little gadget for translation and it was very effective. Thank you so much <3 - The green tea from the dispenser in the lobby was actually unexpectedly good & to my liking. - Free shuttle bus service in the morning. I wish there were more time options though. But not complaining, it’s better than none! - I love how it’s right next to the supermarket & Daiso. So handy to grab some quick breakfast or even dinner & other necessities - ONSEN! It was very relaxing, and it was very traditionally Japanese. Yukata was cute too.

United KingdomThere is no laundry service in the ryokan so you would need to visit the coin laundry close to it- but it is only a few mins walk away.
A really lovely ryokan with kind and polite staff. We stayed here for a night. It was a classic japanese room with tatami and futon. The breakfast and onsen was the highlight of the stay. Breakfast had a bit of everything such as sashimi & enoki (that you could sukiyaki), salad, tofu, yoghurt, yakizakana, chawanmushi and rice. It was really tasty. The breakfast place is right next to a koi pond and it was really relaxing. The onsen was spacious and clean- and there were a few different types like hot onsen and warm onsen. I really recommend the open air onsen. There are some great places to visit around the ryokan- we particularly liked orange beach.

ThailandIt not near JR train station, you can reach the hotel by Tokai bus at Ito Kowakien bus stop.
The Onsen is rated exceptional in Japan. The hotel is famous for the Onsen which promotes the benefits for the skin. They do also offer table tennis, and a massage service at extra cost. At the Onsen area, you can enjoy the drink from the vending machine. They also provide a welcome drink, sleeping mask lotion, and sleeping mark (use with spring from the onsen) AEON department store is also located next door, Daiso also reachable by foot from the hotel. The Ramen store that is located across the street also offers cheap but very good taste. If you transport with a Tokai bus pass, you can reach the hotel by getting off at the Ito Kowakien bus stop, meaning that they have their own bus stop.

Thailand1.The electric outlet is quite far from the futon. It would be nice if there's extension cord provided. 2. The hotel does not provide clear information about the smoking/non-smoking room in the booking page. Make sure to add a note in case you want a non-smoking ones.
The hotel guests are mostly Japanese people. The outdoor onsen is awesome. There's cute Yugata provided. There's actually spring water sent directly to the bath tub in every room. The food is nice and beautifully prepared. Only a few staffs speak English, but they have a nice translation tablet which works accurately. There's shuttle bus service from and to the JR station. The hotel is right next to Daiso and Aeon mall ,where all snacks and foods are available.

United KingdomUnlike some hotels there are no cafes inside. Not everyone need expensive dinner and may need to go for much lighter meals and refreshments so it will be handy to have a cafe or two.
Comfortable and clean, and there are several eateries nearby which were convenient as I booked room only. Selection of toiletries are sufficient and handy. Nice to be able to choose yukata.

AustraliaKowakien could do to upgrade the carpets of what is otherwise a very nice onsen style hotel with attractive decor and environment
Nice spacious room with twin beds. Nice public bath with three pools including outside one. The property also has a separate wing, Ryokuyu, with spacious Japanese style tatami rooms with private open air tub on balcony and personal maid service with superb food. The price is considerably higher than the main wing, Kowakien, but still reasonable and well worth the extra cost
