I would have preferred to have been able to communicate easier with the reception staff when booking a massage. There was a bit of a misunderstanding about booking the service to my room, and I actually wanted to book in the spa. Nothing major, just I felt really bad about inconveniencing the schedule of the spa personnel. Also, the fact that tattoos are not allowed in the onsen was a bit of a bummer :(

I liked the room, spacious and clean, the view, the staff was really helpful and nice. The breakfast was really good also! The location was perfect, close to the metro and many of the attractions. Also, the spa is a plus, I had a really good massage there and it has an amazing view over Kyoto. Another plus would be the unique little chapel in the hotel patio.

A small thing that we didn't like is that we had to go down to give our laundry (which was an expensive service) instead of someone from the staff to pick them up from the room.

We loved our hotel, it was central and easily reachable by train or bus. IT was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and professional.

The shower head would always spray out of the bathtub. it was angled weird and there wasn’t a way to adjust the angle.

I noticed my room could have used some dusting in certain areas, I had to wipe parts of my room down to clean it off. it didn’t bother me enough to complain about it but it was something I noticed.

The staff was great from the minute I got there, it’s right next to the metro and within walking distance of different markets. I felt my room was big for what I payed for and very comfortable. there’s a lot of cute restaurants nearby.

The location was perfect - close to the subway station (both lines) making exploring Kyoto so easy! The room was also big in Japanese standard.. very comfortable :)

The spa / Onsen was not included in the price - extra charge and the breakfast is ¥3250 pp but as always there is the family favourite selection of 7/11 or Lawsons near by to go DIY.

Beds were a little hard, resulting in stiff muscle upon wakening and waking throughout the night. Had a massage in the spa, but it was a no touch massage. It was completed through a towel which reduced the relaxation experience.

Hotel was clean and beautiful. We loved the bathrooms and water pressure.

The decor is a little bizarre . A Japanese interpretation of grand European hotel aesthetics that doesn’t quite work . The hotel is large and also functions as a wedding function so maybe explains the OTT flourishes .

Beds are too hard and no laundry facility during our week stay, making it difficult to manage our clothing that we limited to a carry on bag. has to hand wash items and hang them throughout the room.

the service in the library bar was slow and the drinks expensive. no sparkling wine by the glass.

The breakfast buffet time is a bit short it ends at 9:30. If you are someone who sleeps a bit longer i would recommend not to book with breakfast and just go to one of the cafes around the hotel.

There is a amazing onsen on the top floor, and the breakfast is good.

Didn’t have coin laundry. The spa was too much, it could be a good idea to separate the services of Onsen and the rest of the spa, in that way the onsen could be cheaper and less pompous. The shower in the room was uncomfortably, when we turn the water on, it splashed everywhere.

It was clean and nice. the room was bigger than the average in Japan for the price.
