The phone in the yurt was unserviceable.

We had a 1-night stay in the yurt. Such a unique and amazing experience for us. The yurt was clean comfy and surprisingly spacious. The heater kept us warm on the cold winter night. Ski tracks are just at our doorstep and many other activities within the resort. The staff was very helpful and always tried their best to accommodate us. They helped us to carry our suitcases to the yurt in the snowy weather. The lady at the reception was kind enough to arrange a takeaway breakfast box for us as we had to check out early to catch our flight home. We wished to stay longer here and would love to come back again.

We had to carry our own luggage and drag it in the snow very exhausting and the hotel staff said it’s not their responsibility. So put in mind to take small luggage After 5 pm most activities are closed except the restaurant so it gets boring at night . The phone line was down so we were secluded and couldn’t contact anybody even the room service

I liked the location , the snowy mountains , the ski slopes and everything around was close . For the horse riding and moon bike rental you have to go down with the shuttle bus which is every hour. The staff at reception are very helpful. We stayed in a Kurt was very nice experience it was spacious and very traditional

This tradicional Kazakh tent is special, it was very warm and nice decorated. It is on the ski slope and nice for stay a day or two.

The cost of spa and sauna services is on the higher side, and they don't offer disposable underwear and caps. It would be convenient if they provided disposable liners for ski helmets.

Oi-Qaragai Hotel is a gem nestled in the mountains. Its location offers breathtaking views and a chance to indulge in outdoor activities like skiing or snowboarding. Don't miss the local sauna experience, but book in advance. Overall, it's perfect for those seeking both tranquility and adventure in a charming mountain setting.

We stayed in one of the tree houses. It was a bit of challenge to haul up our bags to our room, but they did assist us. Going to the restaurants requires a lot of walking which is fine by us and they also offer 24hr room service if you don’t feel like going out of your cozy room.

We love the location and enjoyed skiing. The restaurants in the property are amazing.

There was no elevators to carry our luggage’s to the tree house and it was high up in the hill..almost 200 steps plus with heavy luggage was a big hurdle. Either you should travel light or keep this in mind if you are choosing tree houses. Or there should be some facility to take the luggage like a funicular.

The whole resort was huge and not very far from the Almaty town. Almost 20min to 30 min in taxi. We stayed in the tree house, it was warm and cozy with the great view of mountains. It was fully covered in snow as we traveled in December. The skiing facilities were great too except that they had very few people who could speak in English. People were very nice and tried the best to communicate using google translator.

Nothing we do not like. There is no lift going to the treehouse, it is better to bring little bag, we brought little trolley bag, but it has no problem to carry it on the stairs going to treehouse.

We like the ambiance, very cozy and super relaxing, the view outside the treehouse is so breath taking we love it!

Oi Qaragai's website booking system was not operating for reservations during the Christmas and new year's season, we had to call by phone to book. This seems to be a common practice.

Oi Qaragai is a gorgeous resort. We've stayed in the cottages and recently in one of the tree houses. We go there to ski and the access to the entire ski resort is literally at your doorstep, or beneath you if you are in the tree houses. The tree houses are as good as a tree house can be, we squeezed in 4 people and were fine, as we mostly just slept there. The novelty was fun for us, but it did present a problem to schlep our ski gear up and down each day. A beginner ski lift is there and that leads to the entire mountain of skiing. We like skiing at Oi Qaragai as it has many options for various skill levels and there are excellent restaurants on either side of the resort. The resort is nestled in a pine forest. Our stays came with a great breakfast in the world's largest yurt. The breakfast can be a bit of a melee, but mostly a nice affair. Note: Central Asian post-Soviet countries struggle to provide basic information for foreign visitors. This is a result of the hangover from the soviet system's use of surveillance which led to folks just not talking or sharing with each other beyond necessary information. Mostly, to understand ski resorts in Central Asia you need to actually go to the resort, in person, and see how things work as the information and details are not readily shared or provided. In our experience Oi Qaragai does the best among the CA ski resorts with communicating information, they have English speakers, and their website has good information. We are are also particularly impressed by the level of professionalism of the staff, they seem to be able to solve any issue quickly and effectively.
