How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location was only a short walk from the pools and all the restaurants and shops. Underfloor heating was a real bonus. The garden cottage we had was very roomy and comfortable with nice afternoon sun on the patio.

Exceptional host and a very warm welcome. We had a cabin in the garden so self-contained. It was amazing, being clean and very comfortable. It was cold during our stay and the underfloor heating was great. Excellent shower and facilities. Just a very short walk to the centre and many eateries. In the other direction is the sculpture walk in the forest as well as other trails. Very quiet and we had use of the garden for reading which was lovely. So glad we booked and would recommend.

Lovely character heritage home just a 5 minute walk to the hot pools. We had one of the cottages, very clean and quiet. Lovely hostess! Wish we had stayed longer.

No aircon in the flat, which made for a very hot room during a hot Summer night. If it had been cooler, I would have no complaints, but my partner found it far too hot to be comfortable. Please add a cooler to the room!

There should be another category between what you did and didn't like where the following comment should sit. After expecting to be in the hotel accommodation we were placed in a cabin in the grounds. The owner explained that she had ceased to open up the main house and was only using the 2 cabins in the garden from now on. Not a problem as such but the cabin was akin to being transported back in time with the furnishings and ambience. This is not meant as a criticism more an observation.
The location was perfect for access to the town facilities and ultimately the hot springs. The owner was friendly and accommodating Parking was adequate and convenient and the well kept garden was a bonus. The room was comfortable with all that you could wish for apart from one proviso which is expanded later.

The shower curtain didn’t seal the water in and flooded the bathroom. Had to use all the towels to clean it up.
Great comfortable location with a beautiful garden, dog friendly and friendly host. Just a few minutes walk from the high street and water pools, as well as some lovely hiking and mountain bike paths.

It was a great choice - the accomodation was beautiful and we were meeting friends from Scotland and we were able to sit in the garden with them, have our breakfast in the morning and relax. The hostess was wonderful, we asked for cutlery and a cafetier and she provided this and our friends asked if it was possible to get some washing done and they were happy to do this. It was lovely and we will certainly book with Cheltenham House again.

We were frustrated with no kitchenette as the only water supply was the bathroom sink, plus no ability to have a light meal in the studio. No plates or utensils, I understand the reason given but when staying a few nights it became annoying.
Our host was very friendly and helpful. The studio was delightful, the perfect spot for an over night stay. Lovely gardens and walks nearby. Quiet. Bring your own water as the only supply is the bathroom sink.

We had a lovely stay at the Cheltenham House. The studios are super spacious and have everything you need. The interiors are very tasteful. The host greeted us personally and made us feel so welcome. We will be back again!

The Inn no longer serves breakfast, as the owners decided that it was not worth the trouble given the proximity of many breakfast cafes. This is a perfectly reasonable choice, and the website is correct, but the sign still says there is breakfast; they should fix this.
This is an excellent location! Marie is very welcoming and the setting is cozy and private given its proximity to the Springs.
