Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainFor my personal preference, the bed mattress was a little too firm and uneven. If you have mobility issues, there are quite a lot of windy, narrow stairs to get to rooms (I was in 2F). Being in a room on this floor meant there was only an open unprotected WiFi link so could not use for mobile as too dangerous. Water pressure in shower was adequate but not strong.
Excellent location for getting around Porto and close to many shops, bars, restaurarants etc. It is close to the train station so easy access from airport. Also very close to the Lello bookshop. A lovely welcome from Laura who was very helpful in recommending places and giving information about getting around. The room was spotlessly clean, and although compact in the bed area, had a prettily decorated bathroom with good size walk-in shower and plenty of storage shelves, hanging area in entrance part. Room had heating, good lighting and a good amount of plugs by the bed which is always handy. The 6 rooms in this prettily reformed original house are above a very nice little wine bar that does snacks (only open til 7pm).

NetherlandsI had a great overall experience. My suggestion is to add a hanger either at the door or the wall, so the guest can hang their heavy/rain jacket in their room. Also, it would be nice to provide "a map" with the directions from the São Bento Station to Linha 22 (I, for instance, got lost in the works outside the station and it took me some time to find the b&b ahah)
Linha 22 is situated in a central area of Porto - which is very convenient. The hosts are nice and helpful, always providing information ahead of time. I did not have breakfast, but I tried the Tawny Port wine, and it was really good.

United KingdomI'm an older traveller and humping my 20kg suitcase up 3 flights of very steep stairs was a trial. But the view from the top was incredible
Fabulous position - just walk out the door and wherever you go there is something amazing to see

United StatesI didn't know how many stairs there would be and the bathroom door did not have a real handle. It looked like it belonged on a kitchen cabinet. The bathroom door also didnt close easily.

United StatesBecause of the metro construction, it was difficult walking there from the train station. Wi-Fi and TV were out from the underground street work. Our unit was modest and clean, but challenging to get to on the top floor with a heavy suitcase. It amounted to bring on the sixth floor.
Wonderful staff—very friendly and helpful.

NetherlandsOur upper door room had quite some insects inside: there was a huge spider on bed, then many small moths and other creatures. I suppose they all live in the wood, which is all over the place. And it’s quite an old house so it needs better isolation I suppose.
It’s a nice sort of small B&B. Very high building and high staircases. On the first floor there’s a nice bar and there you meet the hostesses. If you go up, there’s 3 floors of rooms - 2 rooms on each floor so only 6 in total. We came after 19.00 and had to enter through the other inner side of the building through a door with a lock code. There was an envelope with our keys and very warm welcome message. The next day we paid the tax and checked in. We had only one big suitcase and it was very difficult to bring it all the way up as they didn’t have a lift. Even getting there yourself with no extra weight is rather difficult but it’s a cool experience of living in such an old historical building. The day before you can order breakfast for €7 pp and it’s a nice amount of everything fresh and tasty. And the staff was super nice! Bed was nice but pillows were extra flat, bathroom was spacious and everything worked well, there was also a blow dryer, a tv and a ventilator. But there was not much space in the room itself. Only enough for one big suitcase
