Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyPerfect room, hot shower and TV with enough English stations. Comfortable bed. Perfect location for everything. NOT loud. Lovely large window that open onto a slightly larger version of a Juliette balcony. Walking distance to absolutely everything. All positive from my side. (If you have heavy luggage and can’t climb stairs? Maybe search for ground floor lodgings)

CanadaReally good location, friendly staff. Laura was super lovely and helpful. Lovely wine collection in the bar. It is a walk up on a hill so if you have a heavy luggage or mobility issues, getting upstairs might be challenging. Room was very clean. Quite small and basic but it has everything you need. If you just need a clean and centrally located place to crash during your stay then this is perfect.

ItalyI had a rather disappointing experience. The room was incredibly small, which I didn't expect a suite for the price paid, but I certainly didn't anticipate a nonexistent bathroom either. The shower and sink were literally in the room, leaving no space for luggage or even walking around comfortably. What forced us to change hotels on the second night, however, was the excessive noise. The pub below kept us awake until 3 in the morning, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Despite the disappointments during our stay, I must mention that the host was quite friendly and accommodating. Additionally, I appreciated that the place was clean and well-maintained. However, unfortunately, these positive aspects couldn't compensate for the cramped room and the disturbances that affected our overall experience.

IndiaThe entrance to the rooming house was through a wine shop. A secondary entrance from the rear needed additional stairs to get to the rooms. The rooms facing the rear were not comfortable at all. There were a lot of stairs to climb to get to the rooms located on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors for our party. There are unfortunately only two rooms per floor.
The location was very nice. The rooms facing the main road were good but the rooms facing the rear were not comfortable at all. The rear entry facility after the front entrance closed for the day was well organised. Great place to stay for young couples or small groups, say 4 to 6 persons, provided they get the rooms facing the main street.

United KingdomThe room was very small but OK for a short trip. There was a hairdryer in the room but no kettle. You can purchase a breakfast downstairs in the bar but it looked like muesli and some sort of bread. There are current roadworks on the street nearby and we had to walk further to get to the hostel. The staircase was steep and there was no lift and not many handrails. Getting our cases up and down was a struggle. I requested a low floor room but our room was on the second floor. The shower is elevated so you need a high step to excess the shower, definitely not for people with mobility issues;
The room was cleaned every day. The location was great but uphill so not for people with mobility issues. We were able to walk to most of the sights without using the metro. It was quiet even though there is a bar downstairs. The check in /out process was simple. There were bars and restaurants nearby. We stayed over the St John festivities and our host left us a plastic hammer and two small biscuits so we could join in the celebrations which was a very nice thought;

Seguls scratching and fighting on wooden roof sounded like they were were wearing skates Didn't read cancellation policy, could not cancel

Where shall I start...? - Ana is a really nice host (she even prepared us twice our breakfast the evening before as we had to leave early in the morning) - the guest house is perfectly located - the room was small, but really cute and well & modern equipped - the breakfast was tasteful - the view from our room (top floor) was amazing: we were able to see the Sé Catedral and the the Douro river!
