“The common spaces are so beautiful and perfect atmosphere. Loved the pool/bar and the fire pit area where welcome drinks were held. This place was just very sociable with lots of opportunities to talk to other guests. The room I had was beautiful and very very clean. Breakfast included was great as well and made very well. It was super well situated by the town/bus station and the staff were friendly. I would definitely return!”

“Staff were great. View amazing from dining area of the ever changing volcano. Great viewing there of birds. Watching the sunset was wonderful with all the evening sounds of bullfrogs etc. Pool was also nice, and our room was lovely and spacious.”

  • Arenal Sloth Hostel Review score: 10

“You can really feel this hostel is run by a backpacker who's really aware if everything that actually matters for one. Comfortable mattresses, extra bathroom on every floor beside the ones in the rooms. The price is one of the cheapest in the area, David really tries to set people in groups for whatever so we won't each take uber for ourselves, he's really into showing you whatever is around the city to do and will try to arrange anything that you might need. Free yoga classes in 18:00 everyday are worth mentioning . And also the effort to devide the people in the different rooms available to promise as much privacy as possible to each one. The kitchen is really big and equipped also and there's even a stone to sharpen the knives.”

  • “The meals and drinks were great and service was very fast. The view was beautiful from both the rooms and the pool/restaurant area. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.”

“We had a lovely stay ! It is a family run business.. You can tell how the owners are so proud of their business and work hard to enhance and expand on what they have… When we first arrived we were assigned a little cabin with a balcony that overlooked this natural jungle area , it was great but just too small for us. When we told Juvenal he upgraded us to a much bigger villa for no extra charge. He also recommended tours in the area.. I highly recommend the La Fortuna Waterfall, North Fields Coffee tour and the most amazing Caribbean Winds safari float along the river .. We felt very welcome and comfortable, and loved the beautiful grounds. There is a lovely walk you can do and feel immersed in nature. It is also very close to La Fortuna and all the activities. Highly recommended!”

    “The location was incredible”

  • “Everything about our stay was exceptional. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and took great care of us and our room. The grounds were kept beautifully, the complimentary tours offered by the hotel were fascinating, and we enjoyed them so much we booked other tours also. The night tour was delightful and a bit terrifying, there is so much life in the forest at night! We watched monkeys each morning and evening, there were birds and butterflies everywhere, the views were breathtaking. We would go back!”

  • “Loved the approach to everything they do at this place - very careful approach to minimising environmental impact for guests and staff Food sourced from own property or nearby Land and animals seemed well cared for - went on onsite farm tour Interesting wildlife tours on site Son loved the chocolate making workshop - saw all stages from cacao trees growing, how beans harvested and transformed into chocolate Helpful, friendly staff Food choices could be slightly more varied day to day, but always tasty, healthy options, and plenty to eat”
