“The villa is absolutely beautiful! There are hammocks everywhere and you're literally 10 feet away from the ocean. The volunteers there were all very kind and welcoming. The surf lessons ROCKED. Ryan is an insanely incredible teacher. If you're going to stay here, you need to do a surf lesson.”
“Hotel from Hell.
Most people will adjust their watches to ‘local time’ at the airport. If you stay here, wait until you have checked in and then put your watch back 20 years.
The approach road to the hotel was so rocky and bumpy it shook all my dental fillings, and scaped the sump and exhaust of our hired car. We were met at the gate by the meanest looking most unhelpful security guy you could imagine.
We had booked a twin room for a week (non-refundable). At check-in we were shown to our room. It consisted of a double bed and bunk beds, the room was so small that the beds were touching. No window, no wardrobe, no fridge and the only light in the room was so bright it could have been visible from Mars. During our stay, I asked for ice for our water in our room, I was charged $3.95 for the privilege.
There were 2 choices for breakfast, eggs and (burnt) refried beans or starve. The only staff member to get pass marks was Karla who served the breakfast with a smile. On day 2 the bar ran out of our preferred beer and was never re-stocked. Day 4 the 2nd choice beer ran out and was never re-stocked. The menu for the restaurant was limited and the food was terrible, the only thing that was edible was the burger, even I couldn’t mess up a burger.
I cut my toe on the uneven steps by the pool (my own fault, as I was barefoot). I made my way to my room, leaving a trail of blood on the corridor and bedroom tiles. I washed and dressed the cut and went to bed. In the morning, I checked the sheets where my foot had been and there were some blood spots. I stripped the bed and left $10 for the maid, and then went out. Around 10.00am my friend returned to the room, the $10 had gone and he was confronted by the receptionist demanding $20 ‘for damage’. This gave her the excuse to have one wall painted which had scuff marks that had been present before our stay. My suitcase also got painted. Don't book unless your life depends on it !!!!!”
“Very nice staff, great food at the restaurant, good wifi. I stayed for one night and they let me stay in the main area for hours after checking out as I had do to some work.”
