Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Switzerlandi didn't like the bathrooms. i think they would benefit from being divided up. so, for instance, a few big rooms with nothing but mirrors and sinks. a few bathroom with just a sink and a toilet, and a few rooms with just a shower. that would take a lot of pressure off. sometimes all you want to do is brush your teeth and wash your face, and you don't want to have to go into a full bathroom that's been used by a ton of other people. also, i thought the bathrooms could have used more surfaces to put a bag or a suitcase, for instance. since it was hardly ever possible to turn the light on in my room, because there was always at least one other person sleeping, i had to take my backpack and my suitcase into the bathroom every time, and i was unpleasant, since i could put them on a rack or whatever, and always had to open them on the floor, which was sometimes wet.
- the location is unbeatable, fantastic. - i didn't have breakfast at the hotel. i'm a vegan and it didn't sound from what the person at check-in was saying that there would be much for me to eat, so i never checked it out. - the room i was in exclusively to sleep. i saw it with the lights on only once in four days, and for only a few seconds. the bed was very comfortable.

SwedenSome members of the staff were not so accomodating. Beds are only 189/190cm (6ft2 /6ft3) long, as someone taller than that I would have really appreciated it if that information was clear on Booking.com.
Great location, good breakfast and nice common areas. Very happy with my stay.

United StatesI didn't like the bigger fee because I added a friend even tho I upgraded...also didn't care for the fact that front desk didn't offer to help with my upgrading. Thought that was less then desirable when clearly they were on their phones most of the time.
Breakfast was nice.

United StatesIt felt like there weren't enough bathrooms available for the amount of people in each area. And it would be nice if there was a way to rent a lock for the locker instead of having to buy.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the beds were comfortable. It was the cheapest option in the area, and it worked out perfectly for what I needed. It was also nice to have lockers available. And it was nice being right next to so many restaurants and shops, especially China Town.

United StatesThe hallways echo and there wasn't much sound insulation in the room, so any noisy neighbors could be annoying.

ColombiaIt is not about the property. It’s about the travelers that are noisy and should be more careful when closing the doors. If you are sensitive to noise at night, it would be good to advise that during quiet hours people should try to close the doors softly :)

GermanyAs previous guests have already mentioned the biggest annoyance about this hostel are its slamming doors. Another minus for me is the air conditioning which made me feel super dehydrated after a couple of days. The air is just super dry in the whole hostel and it’s hard to have a nice temperature in the dorms. It was either freezing or too hot.
The hostel is very well located in Boston Chinatown. The shared spaces (like a big kitchen, laundry room etc) are very well maintained and organized. They offer a simple complimentary breakfast and have free activities on almost every night. I did a free walking tour which was great. The people at the front desk are awesome. They gave me recommendations and helped me when I had an issue with my booking. Also the staff at the kitchen and cleaning the rooms do an excellent job. As in every hostel the quality of your stay always depends on your roommates. I stayed in different rooms during my stay and can warmly recommend the private rooms. They are definitely worth the money!

United StatesThe beds were a little squeaky and the complimentary breakfast was literally a toast with jelly. Also it was a bit expensive for a hostel.
It was clean, tidy, staff were friendly and helpful. Location is amazing, right in the china town, there is plenty of restaurants around and it’s extremely easy to walk to the city.. There is possibility of storing your luggage after the check out and you can hang out in the foyer and charge your phone or use bathrooms etc.
