Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only negative thing I can say is that the person working the front desk was not friendly at all. She didn't greet us and her general demeanor made it seem like she was annoyed. In contrast, the next morning there was another person at the front desk who was absolutely lovely!
The hotel is so beautiful! We stayed there for my husband's 40th birthday. The amenities were great, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the continental breakfast was!

GermanyThe safe in the room was broken and not repaired during our visit, it was bit chilly in the room and we were unable to adjust the heat and the bathroom was a bit worn. They did not service the rooms every day and it was necessary to ask for service specifically if you wanted this. Since we were there for several days, it would have been nicer to at least have had service every other day without having to specifically request it.
This was a pleasant hotel and is very well located in Philadelphia. The beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was a nice, varied continental buffet. There were plenty of restaurants in the immediate area. There was water and coffee in both the room and in the lobby.

United KingdomWe arrived after a 5am start and unfortunately the room wasn’t ready( we were early for check in) - understandable but a shame as we were tired. We were told about the speakeasy bar but couldn’t get a table for 6 when we tried so sadly couldn’t try it.
Our room was lovely, breakfast was great, friendly helpful staff

Cute hotel in a convenient location. Friendly staff. (We were only there for a quick overnight.) They offered free breakfast on site but we wanted to go to a special cafe around the corner so only grabbed a quick juice and yogurt on our way out. The bed was very comfortable!

United StatesThese are not dislikes, but just suggestions for improvement. The living room only had very bright recessed ceiling lights, which took away from the ambiance. A suggestion would be to put in a floor lamp or a dimmer switch on the ceiling lights. The room was warm and I couldn't really seem to get it cooler -- I probably just didn't spend enough time trying to figure out the controls for each room. For the price of the room at a high end boutique, it would be nice to have real glassware, rather than paper cups. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great.
We stayed in the Belle Opaque room, which was an upgrade from the room I booked. It was very nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the linens and towels were luxurious. It had a separate large living room with a fireplace that felt like being in an old city home. The rooms were very clean. The location was perfect for the Rittenhouse part of the city -- close to the park, stores, and restaurants, yet on a quiet side street. The staff was helpful, when asked about a place to keep dinner leftovers cold, they quickly brought in a portable fridge, and got wine glasses on our request. I chose this hotel, because the larger, chain ones I typically stay at were fully booked, and I'm glad we did.

United StatesThe maitre d at the Franklin was rude and obnoxious He actually insulted partner and physically man handled me. I am a 60 year old man Not roudy. My crime was to open the door from the street as no one was there to do it. He pulled me out of the bar and when my partner laughed nervously he tild her that she was too loud. It was infuriating.

United KingdomWould definitely recommend that the owners sound proof the rooms better because we heard our next door neighbours very easily. For one of the days we stayed, the complimentary breakfast was cancelled very last minute without explanation. You can easily get lost in the hotel, would recommend that the owners put up some signs directing customers to the lobby area and elevator.
Room was a good size and really good looking. The outside of the hotel is also very pretty. Location of the hotel was pretty good. The continental breakfast (when served) was good. The garage they recommend for parking was very friendly and easy to find.
