Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt was a little crampled but again we were not staying an extended time, so it worked out for our situation.
It was basic accommodations, we just needed a place to stay overnight because our flight was delayed and we needed to meet our cruise ship the next day.

AustraliaThe main thing was ,would have liked if it could be aired a little more.
Basically quite comfortable and cosy, but not luxurious. One needs to be happy with comfort and cleanliness when aiming for moderate prices. Did love the flower arrangement in room. That was special.

United StatesThe bathroom in this room is quite small, and some guests would find it difficult to make their needed morning preparations in such a small bathroom. It suited my needs just fine, however. Guests wishing for a larger bathroom should reserve a more expensive room.
The location is only two blocks from the main downtown area of Wailuku, with good access to several restaurants and several bus routes that I used regularly. The room was everything I could ask for. There are several different rooms with different sizes, and I stayed in the Old Mill Room. The room has air conditioning, which I only used in the evenings to cool the room after it heated up in the afternoon. While in a busy part of town, the street itself is fairly quiet most of the time, and a very pleasant location that is also close to many necessary things.

United StatesThe only thing I missed was a little table, but there was no room for it.
Maureen really has her hosting down to a fine art - had lots of tips and was very helpful getting settled in. The room had interesting tropical decor, which set it apart from the cookie cutter style of chain hotels. There were lots of little touches to make guests more comfortable: beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, a beach bag, a cooler, and even an umbrella to take along on day trips.

GermanyCertain rooms can get very small an feel cramped so pay attention to what you’re booking. Not every room has a kitchen, just a microwave and an freezer.
The location was amazing to get around the island. The outside area was nice to sit at.

United StatesI can think of only one small thing, the owners could upgrade the towels - change them with 100% cotton towels. I also noticed in the reviews about the noise from the chickens, but I was so tired in a good way from swimming and lying on the beach, so that I didn't hear them during the night.
It was a blast for the money you pay! The location is perfect, we could easily choose where to drive the next day and went different directions every day. You can borrow the chairs and snorkeling from the common area. I loved that you can refill your water bottle with filtered water near the pool. Our room (and I assume all the other ones) had a cooler and beach towels that we could take with us. The host is very polite and she can recommend where to get very tasty macaroons.

United StatesThe guesthouse is across Iao school so on schooldays, expect some commotion ( students walking/activities, bells, etc). Their birds ( Ruby & Hana) are by far more quite than the roosters every morning ☺️. Nonetheless, overall a great location!!
Maureen is terrific & responds timely to answer any questions. We were located at the cozy Plantations Room. Our room is cozy & welcoming. There’s a staircase leading up to the rooms upstairs. Walking distance to the local businesses at Market St, less than 2m from Maui Swap Meet ( Saturdays 7-1pm at back parking lot of Maui College). Costco ( variety of food trucks across the gas station), grocery stores, banks, mall are all easily accessible. Maureen had to clean/change the aerator on our sink for better water pressure, but otherwise everything was great! We were comfortable enough that we didn’t have to used the a/c, just the fan. The room is clean and comfortable. Housekeeper are available if needed new towels/soap, etc. Tip is greatly appreciated. The pool looks great! We didn’t have time to BBQ, but outdoor grill is accessible if needed. We rented the car from her too ( VW Tiguan) & Maureen pre loaded with small ice chest & beach chairs. We even came home with a few slices of her moist & delicious homemade bread which was perfect with coffee for our early drive to Hana the next morning! Highly recommend & will definitely stay here again!

IsraelMy wife and I stayed at Maureen‘s in December 2022. Maureen is a great and a very hospitable host. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, there was an AC, a coffeemaker, a fridge and necessary bathroom supplies. Good value for it’s money! We also loved the location- quite, safe and easy to get to main attractions by car. Thank you very much, Maureen for having us! The Cookies were delicious 😉😋

CanadaIt would be nice to have burners e.g. to boil an egg. The sofa and chair in the living room is fabric and hard to clean. It's also old and lumpy - new one needs to be purchased that can be wiped down.
Location is central - a 6 min drive to Safeway, a walk to breakfast, banking, dining - 15- 20 min from OGG Airport. The pool was great, the grounds were lovely. The air conditioning worked. I enjoyed the kitchen with microwave and toaster oven and coffee maker and electric kettle. The wifi worked well. The cleaning staff come every 2nd day to change towels and do a nice job cleaning.

United StatesThe room/hallway had some funny smells at times (it seems like an older home so that’s expected). It’s also across the street from a school so school bells can be heard going off throughout the day as well as early morning roosters.
The staff was very hospitable and so kind. The owner Maureen was very responsive and accommodating. The pool area was great and had a great view. The house is also 5 min or less walking distance from a little downtown area complete with a great coffee shop and Thai food truck!
