Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSneaky little “corkage” added to the bill for taken a half drunk bottle from our braai the night before, in to dinner. Sneaky little charge for using some logs left by the previous occupants. Neither was expensive but just felt cheap.
All meals were average, mainly because of the need to use a lot of frozen/processed/dry goods due to its remote location. Loved the relaxation and calm in the Little Karoo.

South AfricaThe fridge in our room could have been colder, we ended up using the freezer to keep our food and drinks cool during our stay. The 30km dirt road was really tough to navigate in our ford fiesta as there was some recent rains before our visit which made the roads into more of a 4x4 worthy track
Had the most memorable unforgettable stay at the African Game Lodge!! It was peaceful & far away and well worth the 30km drive on the dirt road to get there! A particular highlight for our family was the 4x4 "Game Drive" with Monwa who agreed to take our family on a "non-standard" drive to get us as close to the bushmen paintings as possible! Very knowledgeable, very kind and caring! Would highly recommend the African Game lodge as your escape from the city to reconnect with nature!

South AfricaWe had an incredible experience at African game reserve! The facilities were nice, providing the perfect blend of comfort and immersion in nature. The breathtaking beauty of the natural surroundings left me in awe. Being off the grid with no cellphone signal was a welcomed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy family time. What made this trip truly exceptional was our host, Monwa. Not only was Monwa incredibly kind and hospitable, but their extensive knowledge about the local wildlife added a fascinating layer to our adventure. Monwa’s insights and stories about the animals were both entertaining and educational. And let’s not forget the highlight - the tamed Ostrich! Interacting with such a magnificent creature was a unique and memorable experience! African game reserve exceeded all my expectations, and I can’t wait to return.

South AfricaWe loved the location and the overall experience we had at African Game Lodge. One of the owners came to directly introduce himself during breakfast which was great. Very kind people working there. Ronald is one of the best cooks I have met, nice guy and his food was absolutely amazing. Monwa was so accommodating, the weather on our second day there didn't permit a game drive, but they were willing to accommodate us the next day after breakfast which was amazing!! We will definitely be back to visit again and will bring our families too, already told them about this place. So see you guys again real soon.

South AfricaWe did not see much game near the lodge. The weather was inclement so I can't say if we would have seen more on a game drive. The hot water in the chalets was more warm than hot.
The scenery around the lodge was breathtaking. Monwa at reception was friendly, well-informed and capable. We enjoyed interacting with him. The chalets are rustic and being away from technology added an extra layer of relaxation to the weekend.

NetherlandsUnfortunately the pool was not very clean and there were no mattresses on the sunbeds. So not very tempting to lay by the pool. Dinner was ok, although not a lot of choice for me, being pregnant. Well done steak seemed my only option. Would go for dinner in your own room.
Very remote location, beautiful to drive through. The stars at night are amazing! The main area looks nice and cozy. Unfortunately we didn’t do a game drive as we had to leave after one night. Monwa manages the lodge on a day to day basis and deserves a lot more credit!

BelgiumTo get to the property you have to go offroad. It's doable with a normal rental car but you have to drive really slow.

South AfricaThe long gravel road to the destination. A 4X4 is a must vehicle to get there. The bar in the lodge was not always open. There were no cocktails available and limited alcohol beverages available. A small convenience store to buy milk, bread, chips, sweets, ice creams etc. would be welcome although we were able to buy wood at the reception.
Tranquil, peaceful environment. The 2 hr game drive was spectacular. Kids enjoyed playing mini-golf, billiards, table-tennis and swimming. The friendly ostrich visited us many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner in the restaurant was well prepared and delicious. Comfortable chalets. Interesting hiking trails. Relaxing in the lodge where tv, wifi and charging stations are available. Staff were very friendly and especially the one assistant who seemed to multi-skill at various tasks including game driving, bar keeping and managing the restaurant.
