How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. A few steps,but I was helped a lot by the staff

Absolutely amazing lodge in St Lucia. Charmaine at the reception is a shining star, incredibly hospitable and loves what she does. The staff in general are friendly and warm. My room was clean and smelled unbelievably fresh on my arrival. Loved every bit about AmaZulu lodge, would go back at any given opportunity.

Slightly more powerful shower
Stayed overnight and did a safari the next day , staff great and helpfull , rooms clean and tidy , pool lovely Didnt try breakfast as picked up at 5 for safari ,but they offered to do a breakfast pack to take with us ,but we declined as breakfast was also included in safari ,heritage safari were also very good ,nice people nice place whats not to like ,also aircon excellent

Loved the thatched roof and high beams - spacious, air conditioned and impeccably clean. The pool was a welcomed treat in the heat. Staff were amazing. Thanks - highly recommend!

As to be expected there are "load shedding" hours where it is completely dark in the evening. No hotel generators to keep things going. WIFI isn't dependable at all. The TV is worthless and shouldn't even be in the rooms because it isn't why one comes to this lovely place in the first place. The breakfast is basic with very limited offerings so don't expect much.
This is an African themed "resort" with corresponding rooms which is charming. As others have mentioned rooms smelled a little musty without the AC on but was acceptable. It's an easy couple of blocks walk down to the main street with all the restaurants, tourist services, gas station, supermarket etc. Nice a quiet and serene courtyard setting. Free parking in gated area in back.

Breakfast was disappointing, 2 out of 3 lights were flickering all night (even when switched off), aircon kept switching off and the WiFi was poor.
Great location, nice style of property, clean, friendly staff and a great Zulu lodge experience.

Very impressed with our host. Everything was awesome and they were very accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of extra little touches that made our stay more pleasant. We will definitely be back to stay here.

I fell in love with St Lucia... We had the best time. Charmaine the manager is amazing! We took the time to go snorkelling, made a boat trip to see the hippos and had a lovely dinner in town. I can't wait to come back.

Musty smell when we arrived in our room, am sure because of excessive rains, but it got better as we continued our stay

Not the establishments fault, but the aggressive monkeys that pass through daily. No generator for load shedding - not a big deal, except shower pumps don't work while off.
Super clean and comfortable, beautifully designed rooms in a lovely setting, with exceptionally friendly staff and management. Great breakfast.

If I compare it with other accomodations in St Lucia personally I would prefer others but this is my very personal opinion. Check in strictly at 2pm but even then the room was not completely ready.
Staying at Amazulu for one night was ok. Breakfast was ok but not extraordinary.

Like most St Lucia, they have some issues with fearless vervet monkeys rumnaging around the property. Shut windows during day time led to a slight moldy smell in the room which quickly disappeared after airing.
Spacious cool room with thatched roof giving a lovely atmosphere. It was off season so price was great and the place very calm. The manager and staff were helpful.
