How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything was perfect.
The place is well equipped, very spacious, nicely decorated and extremely cosy. The view is stunning and the bed is super comfortable. It's great during sunny days but even on a rainy day it's perfect. There are electric blankets and it's lovely to drink a tea and just enjoy the view. The family who is managing the place are very welcoming and friendly. Highly, highly recommended!

WiFi. It was working just outside, closed to the main house, but not into our room.

The rooms really need a make-over as furniture is dated and the bathroom is old. This was the most basic room we experienced during our month's vacation in South Africa and the place really needs a refresh. The bathroom amenities were also very basic and not like we experienced in almost all other B&B's during our vacation (there wasn't even a separate shampoo but only shower gel). The drive up the hill to reach your parking spot can also be a challenge, especially when reverting out....
We booked both units that are on the ground floor (below the main house). There's a separate entrance which was nice and a little terrace in front of both rooms offering sufficient privacy. The location is great to easily get you in and out of Plettenberg Bay. The host is very friendly and provided good information about local restaurants and sights to visit.

Not as private as expected There is a bedroom door that separates you from the main house. And the people in the main house were rather noisy. Could hear stomping of up and down the stairs and banging doors. Water damage in the bedroom and bathroom walls were constantly wet.

We were just caught by surprise on arrival when we were asked if we made a booking. Our booking was with breakfast included. Although the confirmation mail stated that breakfast was not at the premises but 5 minutes from the premises, there was no info regarding any breakfast. We also did not receive a password for the free wifi nor was there any info in the room regarding the breakfast or wifi.
Nice guesthouse conveniently located with beautiful view. Our room was spacious, clean & complete.

The accommodation is comfortable but very basic. Load shedding had several unwanted consequences: We could not use the kettle to make coffee for three mornings in a row, the TV did not work for much of the time when we returned after a day out and the wi-fi was only available when the power was on.
Panoramic is well located, easy to find and within easy distance of many of the visiting points. The B&B is literally 5 minutes from the main highway and the center of town. The view of the ocean is outstanding.

The photo's on Booking.com did not give a just portrayal of the room.The bed linen were not what you should expect of a B&B: printed duvet cover,linen did not have a fresh feel. Floor were not properly clean.Old fashioned plastic tablecloths on tables.

Not geared for load shedding. Very stuffy in the room as there’s no air flow. Fan only works when there’s electricity. One teaspoon supplied and incorrect indicator on hot tap in the bathroom.
No breakfast. Awkward location.

As stated before. Toilet seat completely inappropriate and shower head clogged. Tv up inside a box therefore viewing difficult. The fact that they don't have a generator on the premises( it's a bussines after all with paying customers) therefore is no TV, no WiFi, no ceiling fan working and cannot have tea and coffee in the room if the loadshedding is on.
The family was really eager to help with any questions and very friendly.

There was a problem with ventilation in both the rooms and there is mold. Without this problem it is a 10/10.
Super nice and friendly host and a warm welcome. John and Mike was very helpfull. The view is wonderful.

The place is just as you enter into town yet away from the hustle and bustle and noise. But not far for one to drive into town and the beach. The room is serviced daily 😃 Beautiful view of the bay from the room.
