Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaExceptional attention to detail. Staff goes beyond expectations. Perfect location. 20mins from the airport, right across the V&A, great view of Table Mountain and the Harbour and ocean. Great restaurants close by as well as good variety offered in the hotel restaurant and bar. Offers in-roon service

GermanyNothing negative for me. Visitors that seek for silence might be disturbed by the noise from the Waterfront locations.
I come back to this place every time I am in Cape Town. Friendly staff, great location, very nice garden with pool to relax, great parking.

United KingdomNot being there more than one night! It is a bit difficult to find using sat nav but a hidden gem well worth finding!
Great boutique hotel. Lovely big room and bathroom. Breakfast was superb - fresh and huge choice. We arrived late so didnt get to have dinner but bar was open and staff friendly and attentive. Indeed all of the staff were super attentive and made us feel welcome. Hotel is a stone’s throw from Waterfront but bijou and quiet. Would definitely go back.

United KingdomRefund policy for changes in bookings. On booking.com the policy was free cancellation. The hotel asked for a prepayment to secure the reservation for the entire stay upon making the booking. I made a change to the reservation about two weeks before the stay, expecting an immediate refund for the nights cancelled, as is a practice elsewhere. The hotel refused to give me the refund until after the stay, and processed the refund a week after we checked out. We had to follow up about the refund process several times, and at some point they tried suggesting that the refund would be in a form of credits for future stay, which we immediately rejected. All of this needs to be made more clear prior to booking. Everything about the stay itself was great! It is priced at a higher end of the range.
The property was great, within walking distance from the Waterfront with shops and restaurants. Breakfast (combination of buffet and a la carte) was excellent, with good quality ingredients and friendly service.

TanzaniaBreakfast was the biggest disappointment. Takes so long in the morning, have to wait to get even coffee. Coffee was not always even nice. Almost no gluten free options, besides seeded bread which is not a bread but compressed seeds which is impossible to eat.
Facilities, rooms and overall location at V&A waterfront is at the top level.

United KingdomOur room looked into a parking area and was noisy. The room had a “mountain view” which was poetic licence. If I hung out a window and looked through trees I could see a bit of Table Mountain. Check in time is 2pm and I had to push to get a room by 2.20. We were given a room than was smaller than we paid for and refused to stay in it. The chap in reception could have dealt with me more appropriately. We. have stayed at this hotel at least ten times and there is no record of being previous guests and being welcomed back.
Great location. Clean, spacious and most of the staff are excellent.

AustraliaGreat alternative to the larger hotels in Johannesburg and highly recommend. I booked this for some very senior global executives who are used to staying in luxury hotels around the world and they absolutely loved staying here. The service, staff, rooms and location were perfect. They even said the next time they are in Johannesburg; forego the large hotel chains and they will happily come back here to stay.

United StatesConfusing as they have a sister hotel across the street, the Victoria and Albert. Some of the photos shown are off the sister hotel. You can use the sister facility for breakfast.
Well maintained beautiful quiet property. Breakfast was wonderful with buffet and the option to order from the menu. Room was fantastic, we stayed in the executive suite. Staff were helpful and attentive. We did a 2 day tour with Marvel tours, it was amazing.
