“Once you survived the bumps and pot holes on the access road you will find the fantastic bungalows . Frankly I don't know why I am telling you about this amazing place as selfishly we want to return next year, it is just the perfect retreat! Beautiful bungalows well looked after, fitted out with all you need very comfortable beds and a lovely outside shower, a shower at night under the moon and stars is a special treat! The food was good especially if you are a fish or curry lover, just ask for a hot curry as normally very mild. Owners and staff exceptionally helpful and all laundry we had done was done quickly and well laundered, perfect service . Internet good but not important with the beauty around you. The infinity pool is big enough to swim and relax in, lit up at night a lovely feature and enough loungers for everyone. The beach is over 14k long (we walked it) and we never saw more than 20 people and most of those local fishermen, except when passing the odd hotel along the way and not many of those. The sea not for swimming in bad under currents that really do pull you out, at least that was in February whilst we were there. For us this was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the start to our 5 week holiday it's just heaven, hope space for us next year! Well done Hans and Barbara for creating the perfect spot to relax in.”

“I loved everything here. A great hotel on the most amazing beach. Room, food and pool are just perfect. The room is spotless, very spacious with a huge, comfortable bed, good quality linen, very nicely decorated, a lovely outside shower and a very nice view. I even found a small private pool on my terrace! The room price is unbeatable. It has a great pool area. The pool is kept very clean and in the evenings, the restaurant area adjacent to the pool is lit up beautifully. Food at Taj Tangalle was delicious, very high quality compared to elsewhere in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was the best I have had on my trip and the staff was wonderful. The Wifi was very good as well. The lonely beach is just fabulous. I really wanted to stay but unfortunately I had to catch my plane. I’ll come back soon. The room price is unbeatable It is just the perfect retreat and I highly recommend this wonderful place!”

“This hotel has spoilt us for all others! It really is a little garden of Eden, so peaceful yet so full of life with monkeys in trees, Rocky - the pony with personality, peacocks, palm squirrels and the odd monitor lizard and mouse deer if you're lucky (and quiet). The rooms are incredibly spacious, private with fabulous bathrooms and serene views over the lagoon. The staff are superb, extremely attentive yet discreet. Nothing was too much trouble, you really are made to feel at home. Food is super yummy with a new menu each night - the prawn samosas are truly addictive! We hired canoes (free) and spotted Eagles early morning on the lagoon. Nick has put his heart and sole into Buckingham Place and you can tell. A real highlight of our Sri Lankan adventure.”

“We stayed at Pearl Cave for several nights and really enjoyed it. The property is very new, so this may actually be their first review. Pearl Cave is a 10-15 minute tuk-tuk drive from the Tangalle bus terminal. Our room was spacious with a four-poster double bed, mosquito net, A/C, fan, and a hot-water shower. Everything was new and very clean. We loved our huge balcony overlooking a shallow lake and the mangrove forest. Great for bird-watching. Although we couldn't see the water, we could hear the waves from the nearby beach. The guest house also has a restaurant with good Sri Lankan curries for dinner. The two ladies who run the place are very sweet. Although communication in English was a little tricky at times, we always managed to understand each other. Highly recommended.”

The place is new and there's clearly been a lot of thought put into it - sheets immaculate, mattresses so comfy, there's hot water, AC, a beautiful outside area and a free tuk tuk to take you directly to the beach whenever you want. They have free sun loungers and hammocks at the beach, in and out of the shade and the food at their beach restaurant is really good. Couldn't fault the manager, really kind and helpful guy.”

We really enjoyed our stay here, and when you look around at the other offerings in Tangalle this is definitely the best choice for the value. P.S. Make sure you eat dinner at the restaurant, we were disappointed by most of the food in Tangalle, but Ceylon's Chicken Curry was unbelievable, make you try dinner there even if it doesn't seem busy the chef is always present and the food is fresh.”

My room was specious, very cozy and well-occupied. All the staff were so caring and wonderful. “We chose the hotel for its location close to the beach and it held its promise. Most of the rooms face seaside, as did ours. The beach is miles long and lovely for long walks. Due to strong high waves you can't really swim safely, but there is a pool in the premises. The resort is very calm and private. No beach parties or the like in close range. The resort and rooms are super clean, you get fresh towels every day and the cleaning ladies do their job very well. We tried some Ayurveda treatments, too. As we have no comparison, it seemed to us the treatments were worth the money (full body massage 33 Dollars, back massage 29 Dollars) and the herbs and juices worked (as much as Ayurveda can work in 4 days). The resort serves Sri Lankan food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is great, but you have to be up for soups in the morning and super-healthy dishes (if you don't like that, there is a local restaurant outside the resort). The resorts offers free a yoga session in the morning as sun set (with view on the ocean).”

The homestay is really close to everything, 5 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to the city center, 5 minutes to the bus stop and 5 minutes to bars and restaurants (all by foot). Also, the accommodation lies in a side road and therefore surrounding is super calm. The accommodation is totally recommendable and we really enjoyed our stay.”

The staff were BRILLIANT! very attentive- if you needed anything- from fresh towels, room service etc they do this all asap. Very good service! Zanzibar the hotel restaurant is a MUST.. I recommend their Sri Lankan curries and fresh sea food, yum! Breakfast very good too, lots of it! The hotel is Very close to the swimming area. The staff organise trips to see the turtles, Udawalawe safari, rock temple etc. Overall I can't praise this hotel enough, which is why we extended our stay- sad that we had to leave, but... If we came back to Sri Lanka would definitely stay here again!”

From there we could hear the sound of the waves and the breaze of the sea. Najee is a wonderful host. He prepared for us delicious breakfast with tropical fruits and local products. It is a luxury cottage with stilish furnitures just newly opened. Scooter rent is available as well as the pickup and drop off to the airport. Najee is open to support you in everything and he is also very discreet so that you can have a total privacy. We surely come back in Aga Surf. We reccomend it”

The beach. is lovely and the water fairly calm at the north end, we also recommend you to go to Muthu restaurant on the beach the owners are great and cook some fabulous food, try the fresh water prawns. As we had a baby we were given the sea view bungalow when was visable from the restaurant area which allowed us an eliment if freedom. Breakfast and dinner were included in the room price which was an unexspected bonus. The food was authentic sri lankan food which varied from a variety of curries to lobsters. In the two weeks we stayef wr didnt have the same meal twice. Sanjis was most helpful when arranging trips to visit attractions and helped to secure the best deal. The sea had large waves and would not be suitable for young childen or people who arnt strong swimmers but the pool is large and well maintained. Any shortcoming in the hotel are vastly outnumber by sanjis and his staffs continues attentive and helpful efforts to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.”

“As soon as we arrived, my wife was overly happy with every corner of the place. It almost felt like a luxurious hotel but for an extremely accessible price. We chose the cabin with no a/c, overlooking the lake. The terrace is lovely to watch the sunset, the staff is very kind they even put decorations on the bed. The beach is very very calm, we were the only ones there most of the time, except for the occasional people passing by. There is a bar just next to the hotel so they brought us drinks to our beach spot. The ambience is very zen and you can get massages/treatments at any time just there in the hotel. “This homestay was absolutely amazing! Stay here if you're in Tangalle and want to see the beaches. The couple who owns the villa is very welcoming and made us feel right at home. All of the rooms are well equipped with a mosquito net. AC and the beds are huge. The bathroom was very clean and the host even stopped by to clean it again during our 3 days we stayed there. We didn't use the kitchen, but it had everything you need from fridge to stove as well. We were the only ones staying there and had the whole place to ourselves. Perfect place to stay if you plan on going to Goyambokka Beach (which we highly recommend) since it's only a 15min. walk or 100Rs TukTuk ride. Some beaches are even closer (3min walk), but Goyambokka beach is much nicer. Supermarkets are nearby and easy to reach. Bus station is like a 20min walk. This was by far the best place we stayed at during our holiday in Sri Lanka. That was also due to Dileepa being a very generous and welcoming host, who went out of his way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you again! If we were to visit Sri Lanka in the future, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again”

We rented a scooter and were given a covered parking place. It is useful to have a scooter here (rental was cheap) as we loved going to Marikolliya Beach which was a few km away. Our room was more like an apartment with lots of space and the wifi worked well. The house is on a very quiet laneway and the family has a beautiful garden. They gave us clean towels and cleaned our room whenever we asked. They were happy to do anything they could for us. As a result, we stayed an extra week! Great value!”
