“You can walk outside and within a few steps, the Hilo Bay is at your footsteps. Coconut Island is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and right next door is a large Japanese garden where you can see people practicing Tai Chi in the morning. There's a little shop in front of the hotel that sells these delicious musubi snacks made with kimchi and spam. You have to get there by 8 AM or else it is usually sold out within the hour. There is also a place nearby within walking distance (about 10 minutes) that sells some awesome poke. The place is called the Suisan Fish Market and it will usually get packed around noon and afterwards, so be prepared to wait in line if you go later in the day. The hotel staff was awesome. Very courteous and friendly.”

“I booked Arnott's for the tours they organise from the property as I was travelling alone and not hiring a car. In the four days in Hilo I managed to see the National Volcano Park, sunset and star gazing talk on Mt Moana Kea, and the Lava Tree State Park. I also got to see the main attractions around Hilo town, and there are beaches in walking distance from the property. As a photographer it suited me down to the ground. The Tour guides were excellent and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The ethos of the place is to make travellers experience of the Big Island affordable and enjoyable. They offer variety of accommodation to suit peoples budgets and it attracts visitors from around the world.”
