Just 2 short miles down the road from the North Coast Holiday Cottages, you will find the seaside village of Portreath which is famous for its alluring harbour wall bringing in fantastic waves for the surfers out there, the daymark on top of North Cliff at Portreath which is known locally as the Pepperpot; It was built in 1846 as a sign to passing shipping so they knew where they were and lastly, a large rock structure just out at sea aptly named Gull Rock, which as the name suggests is somewhat of a haven for seabirds of all kinds. Why not learn to surf at the Portreath Surfing School, where you can also hire surf and water sports equipment alongside wetsuits. The cottages are also equally close to the stunning coastal village of Porthtowan, which is also built within a valley opening up onto a gorgeous sandy beach, with some fantastic family-friendly eateries such as The Unicorn and Blue Bar being right on the beach so you can relax and have a drink all the while keeping an eye on the kids, Porthtowan beach at high tide is a pleasant narrow beach, but at low tide, it opens up to a one-and-a-half-mile stretch of glistening sands and sea. Perfect place for a family day out, hike to iconic sites such as Wheal Coates or Godrevy Lighthouse.
