The hotel was fantastic, Yotsuya is a little bit out of the way of the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and was well connected to all the areas you’d want to visit such as Shinjuku, Asakusa etc. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious, would highly recommend booking the breakfast included as a lot of things in Japan don’t open until 10am. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, a bit on the smaller side but absolutely perfect for a 4 night stay. The staff were also super helpful in shipping our luggage onwards to Kyoto for us. Amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and brush, face wash and moisturiser all available.

Our host Sato San could not have been more helpful. He collected us from the train station and made great recommendations and was always available for help. When he heard we’d left for the train station with heavy suitcases he came and found us and drove us back to the station. The apartment was about 100 metres from the Nikkō world heritage site entrance - so brilliantly situated. It was spacious and a real treat after small hotel rooms. There is a tourist information close by which was great. Brilliant find and excellent value for money. Saito san was very flexible - unlike most of the hotels and ryokans we stayed at

This is a historical hotel, but very clean and homely. The owner cook the breakfast and provide all the services you will not miss from any established hotel chains. The room is big, details all taken care of. Parking is free, near the train, toilet and bathing area are separated but just like a home setting. One of the best hotels we have stayed, in my opinion, surpass many commercial hotel chains.

Cave onsens were fun. Food was good but didn't vary although as we stayed 3 nights we received treats at dinner on nights 2 and 3. Shuttle service was efficient, both by boat and minibus. Room view over the harbour was entertaining.

Long walk for dinner past the noisy amusements but this would depend on which part of the hotel you were stopping in.

Water pressure occasionally dropped during the shower. There is no elevator and the staircase is quite small.
