  • Tatsuta Ryokan Review score: 9.1

“The service, the onsen and the dinner and breakfast were all fantastic. The restaurant is situated right next to the river which gives it a lot of charm. You also get to eat under a kotatsu which makes it a great experience.”

  • “This is an authentic Ryokan and Onsen. The staff are exceptionally helpful and traditional in every way. The food is phenomenal (incl. Japanese style breakfast). This was a beautiful and relaxing retreat.”

  • Hostel Knot Review score: 9.1

“Perfect location, the friendliest staff I've ever met, a lot of recommendations, cool atmosphere and mixing modern with tradition as the building is a renovated old Japanese house. The town is famous for hot springs but most of the hotels would have been pretty expensive, so I'm very happy that Hostel Knot exists so that budget travellers can explore the lovely town too.”

  • Shuzenji Onsen Katsuragawa Review score: 8.4

“The hotel provides clothes to wear inside the hotel, and has a convenience store inside the hotel. It is close to a bus stop”

  • Hostel Knot Review score: 9.1

“The hostel is great, they had all the facilities available and the private room we stayed at was just what we needed. Shuzenji Onsen is a tiny town but really lovely, I enjoyed exploring the Izu peninsula as well as the neighbouring rice fields and hills. Jamie was super helpful and friendly and made our journey easy with all the tips. If you're going to Shuzenji Onsen I recommend this accommodation.”

  • Hostel Knot Review score: 9.1

“Great staff, they helped me dry my motorcycle gear and recommended restaurants and onsen, great location, and a well stocked kitchen.”
