“The best accommodation we stayed in with my family in the month we were in Japan. I highly recommend it. It was close to the train station, spacious, bright, extremely clean, with enough beds, air conditioners, kitchen utensils, washing machine, a projector lamp with remote control in the main room. A large table, western style chairs. Television with youtube access. We loved it. We highly recommend it. With parking for those who travel by car.”
“Location right by the lake is great, the staff were really accomodating and the onsen was also top quality.
One traveler requested a change in the standard breakfast which was surprisingly agreed with the chef.”
“The friendliest atmosphere I've ever experienced in a hostel! You feel like part of one big family here. The staff is exceptionally kind, willing to help, and they organize many activities where you can get to know others really well. :) (Casino, karaoke…)
A superb location for Initial D fans who want to explore Gunma. 🩷
Definitely follow their Instagram account @matoihostelbarjp to find out more about the events they organize.
The rooms are clean, they have really tasty and original food - YOSHIDA IS THE BEST COOK! Among other things, they can also arrange shuttle bus transportation. :)
Thank you all, you're amazing! We'll definitely be back!

“The breakfast is abundant with choices by Japanese standards. It's very authentic local food. Having stayed in many hotels in Tokyo, and this is really the best compared in any measure. The staff is super nice and courteous. The clean crew really pays attention. I have a small blanket. They always fold it nicely. The room has everything you need, and the location is fantastic. it is on the east side of the train station, not too crowded compared to the west side, but easy access to all the shops and food places.”
“We liked everything about this hotel, which is located right on top practically of the Takasaki Train Station. It is clearly a hotel targeting businesspeople. The breakfast offerings were abundant and diverse, Western and Asian. There was a coin
self-service laundry which we used - and had not expected. Our room was small. Bed was very comfortable.”
