Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com缤客 relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com缤客’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com缤客 property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com缤客 will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com缤客 customers and properties and not of Booking.com缤客. Booking.com缤客 does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com缤客 is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaUnfortunately they cannot control the weather!
I cannot praise the staff of this family run lodge enough. Paul in particular was so helpful with picking us up and handling luggage logistics. This was our second time staying here and it was great. The more traditional rooms with tatami mats are very comfortable. It is an easy walk to the nearest Happo lift (in snowboard boots, less so in ski boots). Breakfast was great with a good variety over the period of our stay.

AustraliaFrom the moment we made the booking, the staff were more than happy to help us. They gave advice on travel to and from Hakuba, as well as offering suggestions on places to eat and resorts to check out during our stay. They also picked us up and dropped us off at the Hakuba bus terminal. All the staff were very hospitable - a special mention to Paul for always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed and for being an all round lovely guy.

United StatesEverything was perfect. Quaint, accommodating, memorable and located perfectly for a ski in/out experience. Mahalo nui Paul, we can't wait to come back.
Paul was the BEST host, he greeting you each morning and went out of his way to make sure your stay was comfortable. His hotel is close to the lift and ticket booth. Loved the traditional lodge feeling. We can't wait to come back.

AustraliaThe property was in a very great location with lots of restaurants and ski slopes in walking distance. Paul and his wife were really helpful with great advice and really good services for transport and snow gear rentals and shuttles. The rooms were all very warm and comfortable with great views. The breakfast was good every morning with hot food and opened early so we could hit slopes before the crowds. Paul and his wife really made it a great trip for our group as they were very nice and helpful.

AustraliaThe owners of this lodge are the nicest people that always are willing to help from skiing advice to assisting with transfers to and from train/bus station. The town has a lot to offer but the accommodation and the people are what made the trip soo good. Would come back 100%

United StatesIt is minimalistic - which is perfect for us, homey, not luxury.
Paul was SO accommodating - willing to give us a ride into town, to the slopes, to the place to ship our gear, etc. Customer service could not be beat. The breakfast was more than I was expecting - a daily free hot breakfast of eggs, meat, toast, etc. I highly recommend it! It was a very short walk to the ski lift for Happo One - easy to get on the slopes.

AustraliaWe had a fantastic stay at the Landmark Happo Lodge. The owner was one of the nicest people we have ever meet - incredibly kind and helpful, very generous with his time (he even picked my girlfriend up from the bottom of a ski resort when she couldn't get a taxi). The location is fantastic. We couldn't recommend staying here more highly.

AustraliaThe only downside is that the Lodge is a 10-15min (1.1km) walk to the rest of the restaurants and bars in town. Certainly not a deal breaker for me as I don't mind a stroll but wouldn't recommend for people who aren't very mobile.
The staff were exceptional and I'd like to give a special mention to Paul who was very friendly and helpful during our stay. They offer a pick-up/drop-off service for when you arrive at and leave Hakuba too. The Tatami rooms are very comfortable, spacious and they give a nice traditional feel. The lodge is 100m from one of the lifts which was great because there's nothing worse than lugging ski gear around. The closest restaurant is at the Momonoki Hotel just a short walk away. I will definitely stay again, the next time I visit Hakuba!

AustraliaPaul was an excellent host, we would chat daily and he would give us advice on skiing, restaurants and tips on things to do in Tokyo after we'd left Hakuba. Excellent variety of hot breakfasts daily. Never the same meal twice! Extra large traditional room with ensuite with awesome views out the two side balcony areas. Great proximity to the Evergreen Ski School ( where we sent out kids for lessons each day ) and the Kokusai 1 lift to head up the mountain ( probably a 3 minute walk, even in ski boots! ). Shuttle bus is also available here to take you to other resorts or destinations around Happo One village
