Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe sound proofing in the rooms to the adjacent rooms and hallway is almost nonexisting. The mattresses are quite thin for sleeping.
The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is peaceful, there is no noise from outside etc.

Hong KongThe hotel is a little bit shabby and old. Not much to do at night. Not sure if they change the Onsen water daily as it is not floating.
Located at NakaKaruizawa, 10 mins walk to the train station, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of Karuizawa. Staffs are helpful and friendly. The hotpot dinner is exceptional good and you'll have lots of mushrooms. It's of great value. Sightseeing points are walking distance.

JapanWe had pre booked meals, but we also had 2 small children with us which weren’t catered for and when we did have the breakfast it was an adults breakfast so it was a lot for them to eat, that could’ve been better organised I feel.
It was enjoyable and what we needed when we stayed in Karuizawa

SingaporeAs expected from maps, it’s a little far away from the station. But as mentioned it’s as expected.
Clean and as expected from the photos. Common area is nice with water coolers, lots of travel guides, lots of free tea and coffee. Free bicycles for use. Convenience store is just a stone’s throw away.

JapanThere is no personal wifi in the room, so depending on where your room is you might have very poor reception. If having a stable connection while travelling is important for you, then I wouldn't reccomend this facility.
Good position to visit main natural sight seeing areas. Bus stop close to the hotel. Nice traditional tatami rooms & friendly staff! Having the option to eat breakfast or dinner in the hotel is usefull as there aren't many restaurants in the area.

The pleasant environment made it comfortable to spend time leisurely with friends. Easy access to the station and Mt. Asama for a short hike if you have a car.

JapanThe corridors are really cold, they could use better heating and insulation Also the website didn't clearly specify the terms of usage of the EV charger. One employee told me it s 1000y/hour (which is crazy expensive for an L2 charger) and the other told me it s 1000y per time (which is either too cheap if your battery is at 0% or too expensive if you just want to top up). I understand it cannot be free as electricity is not free but the current system is very inconvenient for the user and potentially ruinous for the ryokan if people can charge 100kWh for 1000y (which would cost at least 2000y of electricity to the ryokan) In the end I didn't use the EV charger overnight as there was no one at the reception. when I wanted to pay. I d rather have a 3rd party 24h automated card payment system like EMP/ Nissan Zesp where you pay for your usage and the Ryokan doesn't have to pay for electricity.

JapanThe room can get quite dry at night, but putting out some water helped! Naka-Karuizawa station may not be the most accessible, as we were stranded when the Shinano railway was not working between Karuizawa and Naka-Karuizawa station.
We were especially thankful to the helpful staff of Ikoisanso! On the day we were supposed to check in, the earthquake struck and caused the trains to be disrupted. As a result, we were stranded at Karuizawa station and unable to travel to Naka-Karuizawa station for the pick-up service to the hotel. However, upon contacting the staff, they so kindly sent their shuttle service to us even though it was half an hour past their usual working hours. Thanks to them, we could safely reach the hotel and have a good night's rest! We also really enjoyed having a kotatsu (heated table), that kept us warm in -2 degrees weather! The public bath had a lot of amenities, such as cleansing moisturizer too. We found lovely cafes within walking distance from the accommodations too!

SingaporeSmall room and seems to be build within a container.. Walls and ceilings are very thin which means sounds can be heard from outside. The bathroom is also very small and no housekeeping is provided for short stays. One of our rooms is on the 2nd floor. With no lift, means we have to carry our luggage up which is difficult for us.
Location was good. Breakfast was above expectations and bed was reasonably comfortable.
