Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe were a little nervous about the heater in the room (kerosene, maybe). We didnt think it was a good idea to let it run while we slept, so we turned it off. Thought we would be very cold, but ended up sleeping well and stayed warm with the futons/bedding provided.
Delicious breakfast. The dinner was also very good. We chose this hotel because of its great location. The people working at the hotel were extremely helpful to us. They gave us recommendations for snowshoeing, where to get lunch in town, and how to get the bus to Takaragawa Onsen. Much appreciated!

FinlandYou might hear traffic noise starting early in the morning on the uphill side. The mattresses are quite hard.
As rated before, the breakfast was very hearty. You really can start your hiking/skiing day with a full tummy. Keiran is an extreamely warm and helpful host, you may ask him the best hints - where to go, what to see - and he's always happy to have a chat with you. A perfect host! If you like hiking, river rafting, outdoors activities, this is an excellent option!

TaiwanThe facilities are a bit old and no air conditioner in the room. But for people who is here for outdoor activities, it's a fairly comfortable place to stay.
Kieren is very nice and flexible in helping us in many ways. There's bath, a piano, a cute dog named Lucky, and meals provided if you need. This is kind of the best location if you're traveling with train and is planning to hike Tanigawadake, also probably the only place to stay in around the very cool mole station - Doai station.

United StatesThe location is exceptional and the staff was wonderful. Kirin gave us excellent recommendations for local summer activities and restaurants. His staff helped me figure out a rental car situation I was having which was really helpful since my phone wouldn't make calls in Japan. And my son appreciated Lucky the dog, and the board games.

Singaporefor hard skiing skiers only. no heating in rooms (8 degrees), not particularly confortable but ok. again you come here to go out! Tenjin is closed on Tuesdays, but they will drive you to another one not too far. slopes not as good as in Tenjin though.
a place you can eat, drink, sleep, rent ski equipment, get shuttled to and from the resort, as well as be guided on the resort. the other guests were very nice. it seems to be an Aussies’ nest. all you can eat food, and you’ll appreciate once you’ll give it all on the slopes.

ItalyRooms were clean but some insects here and there - not unexpected. Would also highly suggest driving if staying here as there isn't much food nearby so you would have to drive into Minakami (15min).
Location is great if you are interested in Takaragawa Onsen and hiking Mt Tanigawa! Kieran was also a really warm and informal host that made the stay feel homely and familiar. Lastly would be the balcony looking out to the trees and mountain in autumn - great way to start the mornings.

GermanyThere was some conduit protruding from a hole in the floor next to my futon. It may have covered cabling for a TV that used to be there. I also wish the toilet had a washlet, but it was not a big deal.
The meals were very tasty and the location was conveniently located between 3 ski areas all within 20 minutes drive.
