“We loved our stay at Matsuo House. Taka, Oraphin and Yuuchan were amazing hosts. They were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. The rooms are traditiinL tatami rooms, futon beds. The lodge is right beside one of the public onsens and close to the chairlifts. Highlight of our ski trip to Japan. We will be back. Especially loved our morning greetings from 3 yo Yuuchan - "sleep well?" We sure did. Xx”
“The hosts were more than friendly. The beds are comfortable and the room is clean. The floor heating in the rooms provides warmth without decreasing humidity. The most comfortable stay I had during my ski trip. The hosts will drop off and pick up guests at the lifts so you can enjoy the Zao mountain. Not much around the location so be sure to eat before returning to the hostel.”
“Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly.
They made sure we were comfortable with an extra futon, recommended vegetarian places, and showed us the onsen and where to rent equipment. It has a communal vibe, so extroverted people would love it.”
“An amazing property and host in the countryside of Japan. Comfortable, clean and spacious, a great place for a night or 2 or 3 to escape the cities. Take some nice walks, visit the winery and apple Onsen. The owner was lovely and so helpful, she made us feel like being at home. Thank you!”
“The host was really nice, the food was delicious, the room very spacious, and last but not least we had the chance to assist to the morning prayer in the lodge. A very unique experience. The lodge is also very close to the 5-story pagoda and the stairs to the Dewa Sanzan temple.”
“I spent one night here and would have loved to stay longer. Hide-san created a little paradise in his house. As a solo traveller or couple, if you are looking for a social/local experience with long nights of talking and sharing with the other guests, this is the perfect place. Home-cooked dinner based on donation was the best food I've had in Japan so far.”
“Great location, just 1 min walk to the cable car station and 30s walk to ski-rental shop. The hotel provided the rental discount coupon, only 2500 yen per day!”
