Nothing not to like.

The location is fantastic on a gated and guarded wildlife estate with all local amenities 10 minutes away in the Town of Hoedspruit. The wildlife estate has an abundance of wildlife including Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest and all manor of plains game - we particularly liked the mongoose playing outside our rooms. Sander and Juliet attended our every need and were an excellent source of information about the surrounding areas and extra activities in that location. Breakfast and dinner was always excellent and there is a lovely clean pool to while away the excess hours. The rooms were excellent and spacious.

This is a great little resort just outside of Hoedspruit, SA. They have a very nice breakfast and for an extra charge you can get dinner. The dinner is an outside Braai and the food was delicious! The owner is very friendly and very willing to help with anything you need. He will pick you up at the airport for a small fee.(well worth it) They have trips you can take from the resort for a fee. It is a great place to stay a day or two before going on safari. It allows you a chance to decompress and try to get over jetlag. Animals will wander around the property and that is great fun! The room was nice and the bed comfy.

Fantastic little lodge in a beautiful location. Sander was so incredibly welcoming and helpful with his local knowledge. Absolutely delicious food. Beautifully designed and wonderful ambience to that place. Would highly recommend.

Lodge was beautiful, dinner and breakfast was excellent and staff were super polite and helpful, location was perfect, absolutely loved my stay event though it was only for one night but I hope to return

We had a wonderful stay at African Rock Lodge. Sander, Juliet and their staff are superb hosts - very welcoming and accomodating.The lodge is peaceful, the rooms comfortable, the showers piping hot and most welcome after a long journey! We did not want to go into town for our evening meal and so took advantage of the delicious buffet dinner. Breakfast was similarly excellent with something for everyone. We highly recommend staying here.

Nothing - it was all great! (Oh! I would have liked to see the leopard - but maybe not too close up!!).

I stayed at African Rock Lodge three times during my 6 weeks in South Africa - I used it as my chill out location between trips to Cape Town and Kruger National Park. It's a fantastic place to stay! Sander, Juliet and Matimba are the perfect hosts (and Matimba is a Braai Master!). Great breakfasts, lunches are good too, but the best thing is the evening braai cooked by Matimba. The rooms are lovely and the whole property is a nice quiet oasis with a pool - perfect for chilling out! Sander is a trained Safari Guide, so he is very knowledgeable about everything to do with safaris and he has some great contacts and recommendations for trips to Kruger National Park and all round Hoedspruit. The lodge is a great place to stay - delightful! I woke up one morning and opened the curtains to see two warthogs drinking from the ornamental pond just outside my window. Lots of beautiful birds to see - and naughty vervet monkeys!

Lunch food is very good although there is not much variety.

Owners are very kind and really helpful, lovely people. Sorroundings are great, there is a reserve just out of the door. Very clean. Barbecue dinner is very good.

There was nothing that we didn't like.

It was an exceptional stay for a celebratory weekend getaway for me and my husband. The host was welcoming, helpful and ever so humble about their amazing braai! The room was clean, and comfortable, and had all of the amenities for a bush stay. The food! The food was top shelf and we highly recommend enjoying a braai at the lodge.

The checkout is a Lil bit still in the morning,on cold days one just Wana lay in bed until mid day atleast. 2pm or 1pm should do for checkout time But everything else was 👍

Beautiful accommodation, very comfortable rooms, nice beds, very good breakfast (warm and cold). Nice location in a wild life reserve with small wild (no big 5). Near Hoedspruit and only 15 min from Timbavati gate. The braai for dinner is really to recommend, generous portions, affordable but most of all delicious! We will go back when we are in the neighbourhood.
