“We spent 2 nights here. With 2 little ones age 2 & 4.
On entry the hotel was very nice and welcoming, the fireplace/seated area was a nice addition.
Check in was very efficient and straightforward.
We went for a swim just after arriving, unfortunately the pool was quite cold! Definitely not suited to smaller children for more than 20 mins or so. The pool area in general needs work, alot of damaged vents, poor silicone, light in the sauna was hanging down. Changing rooms were poor, absolutely no need for a tv in there either. Overall the pool area I'd give a 2/5 .
After our swim we headed back to the room to get ready for dinner. Upon entering the room everything seemed the way it was earlier. Until we had discovered mouse poop on one of the beds! I brought it down to the reception ina tissue, they chucked it in the bin and moved us 2 doors up. Reaction from staff seemed unsurprised. Overall room sizes were great, bathrooms were lovely. Unfortunately the second room didn't have a bath. But we can manage without that.
Restaurant/bar was stunning. For breakfast the first morning it was a self service on hot an cold, the hot food was very poor and very greasy. We were down early enough so no need for it. The second morning we had self serve cereals, all hot food was made to order which was of better quality.
Dinner was great, portions of starters were very small, I had the boneless wings with hot sauce which was the equivalent to 4 small chicken balls with a scraping of sauce, very disappointing. I had the burger for the mains which was excellent however the accompanying chuncky fries were literally scraps from the bottom of a frozen bag of chips. Shame.
The madra curry, cajun chicken escalope were also very good. Desserts were not very average.
Restaurant score 4/5
Overall it was a good hotel, needs work to be a 4 star in a few areas.
Katie on reception was very nice.”
“Everything was ok. Very clean, modern and comfortable room. Close to town, pubs etc. The place is for people who like night life, a bit noisy. Highly recommended.”
“It took us back to our wedding day as the decor was very similar to that of the Ballygally Castle in Larne which was lovely. The location was ideal too as it wasn’t too far out of the city and only cost £5 in a taxi.”
“Perfect location for a city tour. Helpful staff I reception pointed me in direction of Derrytours.
Dinner was beautifully presented, salmon and lamb. Delicious. V creative.
Friendly staff, beautifully fitted hotel, delicious food. Brilliant location”
