“The staff were extremely kind. I'm humbled! We drove to The place on snow season and our car got stuck in front of their ryokan, the staff helped us move the car and on top of that helped us put the chains to the tires. The breakfast was excellent, they explained every dish and how to eat it. The open air bath was really relaxing. Honestly, best ryokan we have stayed in Japan so far. The place was clean and they can speak English. Easy access to the bus terminal and the Monkey Park (they drove us to the park). I feel extremely thankful and we were lucky to stay in this place. We will stay in this ryokan again, hopefully soon!”

“We stayed here just to visit Monkey Park really. Welcomed us by collecting from Train station (the station manager called them when we arrived!) All staff where so friendly, helpful, accommodating (couldn't do enough for us) and really knowledgeable. True professionals and lovely people. We had total privacy but help and advice was made immediately available upon request. The breakfast was a real experience (I won't spoil the surprise). The managers really made our trip to the Monkey Park with advice and drop-off/pick-up on request, but also helped to make the most of our 2day stay instead of doing nothing in this very quiet and peaceful town (we took day trip to Obuse). They also provided great advice for the remainder of our trip around Japan. Travel brochures for cities and travel advice. They even helped us get into Toyota factory trip when we visited Nagoya (normally 2 week waiting list). This box is just too small to put everything, but I really can't thank them enough. Just amazing and beautiful people.”

Japanese-style hotel Kokuya offers comfortable rooms that boast a private outdoor hot spring bath and free internet access. The hotel features 2 restaurants, a spa and spacious hot-spring baths.
“Nine onsen inside the hotel (also in the room), 9 public onsen outside the hotel. Some of the onsens are so unique, they come with different content of minerals, mineral flowers, wooden structures. There is also cold water tap to reduce the temperature in the onsen if water is too hot, a feature that's very useful as some water can be super hot. The meals were excellent. Staff speaks English and explains everything when you first check-in. This is very important as it clears up a lot of basic info from meal times to how to wear the yukata correctly. It's fun roaming the old street in yukata going from onsen to onsen. Do visit the manjyu stores. The chestnut manjyuu is the best. There is an origami gallery nearby and the old man makes whimsical amazing origami pieces. If you can speak Japanese you can ask him to teach you how to do origami. But sometimes it is not open.”

“I would like to sincerely thank for the staff. Everyone of them are so friendly, promptly, and helpful. Hotel is very clean and warm. Excellent onsen. Bus station is just in front of the door. Food is "Japanese home style" , very good. We stayed four days there, every day they serve different menu. Several tips for travelers: 1. There are many ski fields in the region. We spent one day in Hasuiki, Maruiki, and sun vally (no need to take bus), half day in yokoteyama by bus, half day visiting snow monkey park (morning only) by bus, and one day in okushigan ski fields by bus. 2. For lunch choice, there is a 山之食堂, 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Overall, highly ranked hotel and staff.”
