“This was a great experience - the traditional room and bedding, the meals, and the service were all fantastic. Location is a bit tricky to get to if you don't have a car, but well worth the effort.”
“The taxi driver told us there are 4 "Takamiya" in the region, which was an interesting trivia, but can get confusing.
Rooms were spacious and meals were delicious. Staff were helpful and carried our luggage to the room.”
“The owners are extremely lovely and accomodating. The food was superb and the building is magical. The small onsen tub was perfect for winding down after a hike up Mt Haguro.”
“The main meal and breakfast great plus the Onsen was excellent despite there being only one Onsen to share at certain times for men and women to enter the premises”
“The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The bedroom was spacious and comfortable.
We tried the private onsen and it was also an amazing experience.
We ordered to have dinner and breakfast in our room and it was an amazing feast! They even catered vegetarian for us which is a huge bonus in Japan.”
“Everything from the moment we Checked-in was perfect. Its a beautiful old japanese house, with a lot of love and taste renovated. The interior is a mix of western and japanese designers. Every room is unique. The private onsen water was so comforting that even me, as not much a onsen lover, loved it to dip in. We stayed two nights and every morning they offered us some kind of activity. For us it was rice planting and going up to the mountain to see basin of yamagata. Also the owners are very nice and are actively taking care of the guests and support them with informations and tell their long family history in yamagata. the highlight is also the restaurant, you can enjoy highend japanese cuisine, cooked with a lot of passion by using mostly local ingredients from yamagata prefecture in a cool low dimmed counterseating or a private room. Please be hungry cuz you will eat a lot.”
