  • “This is a dream place! The house is newly renovated and refurbished with impeccable taste. There are two traditional rooms available, both spacious, clean and very quiet. The onsen water is available at the house and there’s a small bath outside to relax! The house is so clean and organised, and Yuki the host is just amazing. He provides you with anything you need, including laundry and towels. We spent two wonderful days there and felt fully recharged. Unfortunately the weather was really bad but Yuki recommended alternative places to visit! There are many beautiful onsen as well as izakayas on a walking distance! We will definitely go back to enjoy this unique environment once again!”

  • “Very good location if you want to be close to the train station 👍 Friendly staff!”

    “Extremely friendly host”

  • Yakunoyado Taguchi Review score: 9

“The location is slightly outside the small port town, surrounded by the forest. The room is small, but very comfortable and everything is very clean. The staff is amazing, always there to help you with recommendations. They also pick us up from the port and gave us a couple of lifts to several locations. Definitely recommended!”

  • 屋久杉楼 七福 Review score: 10

“It was amazing! We really loved the old wooden building with its japanese charm! Kimika-san the host is a lovely person who spreads happiness and fun all over the place. Additionally she is extremely helpful and shows interest in every guest. Together this creates a wonderful atmosphere, where people get together and feel like home!”

  • Tomarigi Review score: 10

“Tomarigi is a very special place, cozy, communal and like its name: the perfect resting tree. And Satomi-san, the owner, is the sweetest person imaginable.”

  • Green Guesthouse Review score: 8

“Great location in Kagoshima and the house itself was nice and clean, we loved the quiet rooftop with views of the volcano and the kitchen is very well-equipped. The two-person bunk-bed room was quite small but still comfortable and cozy and the staff was lovely.”

  • Ramune Onsen Senju no Sato Review score: 10

“This is very close to the airport (if you have a rental car) and is tucked away in a valley all by itself. We had room 7 facing the forest and we really enjoyed our stay. We found the owner to very friendly and we were able to have some good times there chatting with her. This is a simple husband and wife business and is not high end. The onsen is hot, which is great. There’s only about 10 cabins which is nice. It was very peaceful. We used this as a launch pad to other places and onsens in the kirishima area too.”

  • Guesthouse Coco Garage Review score: 8

“the host was friendly and great, and was willing to offer help when we asked for recommendations. the property was well maintained given the location, and it was spacious and clean. the owner also roasts his own coffee beans for guests to use and they are amazing. they have a newly built cafe next to the property that i hope people will visit!”

  • “Luana House can be accessed by the island bus, a bus stop is located directly in front of the house, and unlimited rides tickets (1, 3 or 4 days) can be purchased at the ports of Miyanoura and Anbo or at the airport for example. All sightseeing spots can be reached by bus, though renting a car is recommended for flexibility. The house is located on the southern coastline of Yakushima. From the terrace, you have a nice view of the ocean, and you can relax in one of the armchairs or hammocks and just enjoy the scenery. I had the western-style bedroom, which featured a sink and mirror in the room. Toilet and shower are shared with the room on the opposite side, and the kitchen is shared with everyone. All areas were nice and clean. The owners were the friendliest and most helpful hosts I ever met. I was offered a ride to some sigthseeing spots or to the town of Onoaida for grocery shopping or dinner. The host even provided some hiking equipment, as I was not prepared for the heavy rain on one of the days. Generally, the service far exceeds what you would expect from a pension. Overall it is one of the most memorable stays I ever had.”
