  • Hotel Square FujiGotemba Review score: 7

“We chose it as a base to explore the area. Great if you have a car. We chose to pay the premium for the balcony room with the outside bath (spa) as if offered a (chance of) viewing Mt Fuji. This was for the first two nights back in Japan after a 6-year absence after our last trip. Covid etc. We then checked out and checked into a standard room (no balcony, no spa). The standard room was good with a table we could sit at facing each other instead of many hotels.”

  • “The accomodation was incredible. Amazing views of Mt Fuji on every floor, the ground floor had a couple sets of binoculars so u can get an even closer look. Restaurant was amazing, 4 course meal with unique and great tasting food with great views of Mt Fuji. Staff were so professional as well. Onsens were heated to appropriate temperatures and well maintained.”

  • ISANA Resort Review score: 8

“Albeit a bit old, Isana is nice and quiet. We had a room with our own onsen on the balcony. Very nice. There is also a large onsen which you can reserve. We were overlook the sea which is a very short walk away. Staff were very helpful. We were fortunate to have Japanese friends who live in Izu and who took us around. Izu is an historical place. It is difficult to stay in Isana if you have no transport. The resort has few meal options, and any shop or restaurant is quiet a distance away.”
