“The Villa Politi is set on an ancient quarry, it has extensive grounds that take in old caves and sunny places to sit. The pool is very glamorous it is 25 metres long, warm, and with lots of sun lounges and easy access from the rooms. The building is very grand and early 20th century in style. It contains a ballroom and dining area where breakfast and dinner are served. Winston Churchill holidayed here in the 1950's. The hop on hop off bus ( cost 4 euros a day ) is 100 metres from the front door, and there are great buildings to visit in Otiga as well as a greek theatre and archaeological sites close by. The Villa Politi is great value for money with an interesting history, perfect for those who like to explore in the morning and relax by the pool in the afternoon.”

“Staff were the best we have seen anywhere. They all went that extra mile to make our stay very enjoyable. We only had the name of one waiter (Franchesco) who along with the others work very hard. They even arranged for a food pack as we were leaving before breakfast on our final day. Much better than a 3 star hotel. The whole establishment was spotlessly clean. The food was very good and so reasonably priced. The hotel is a few kilometres from the centre of Syracuse so is very quiet (no traffic or pedestrian noise). Hire a car and this is a great base to see the island from. 50 minutes by car to Catania airport. A taxi is 100 euros each way, we hired a car with full insurance for £240 for the whole week. We would definitely use the hotel again. Thank you everyone at Hotel Relax.”

I wish I could speak at least some Italian so could have better conversation with these very welcoming people. Location wise the B&B is well placed for visits to Siracusa and the surrounding areas. A word of warning, you do need to have a car (for restaurants & shops). A couple of nice sandy beaches are a short walking distance from the place and if you are ready to walk a bit further you can find plenty of beautiful ,though rocky, places to swim and relax. The room was cleaned daily and had all you expect from a B&B (in very good condition). We went for heavier version of breakfast with cheese and Italian meat and it was very good.I hope we will visit it again one day.”
