  • Hotel Folkloro Kakunodate Review score: 9

“I was on a 32-day Japan trip. This hotel is one of the best hotels I stayed, especially the restaurant open for all meal, The hotel is just located 1 minute walk from train station(s).”

  • “OMG if you want amazing location but with absolutely fantastic food when you visit Kakunodate you need to stay at this place. The rooms are very spacious the staff very very friendly and accommodating particularly of foreigners but the dinner and breakfast was one of the best we have ever had in Japan..”

  • “Excellent location, just right at the entrance of Lake Tazawa - the starting point of the lake road. It has its own car park with ample parking spaces. The staff who served us were very good. The public outdoor onsen was very good. Both the buffet breakfast and buffet dinner were of good quality, with a good balance of Japanese and western food. Our room was in the main building, looked a little old but clean in general.”

  • “Good breakfast and close to the station. Was really good for what I needed for. Probably going back next time.”

  • “It was a nice hotel for the price, they offered to make up the room everyday and if you put a do not disturb sign, they would still provide you with a change of towels and trash bags. Check in was quick and the staff were very helpful. The sento was normal.”

  • Akita Castle Hotel Review score: 10

“Big and comfortable room. The twin beds were large and comfy too. The staff is nice.”

  • “The best part of staying in this budget hotel is the exceptional breakfast buffet with a great variety of Japanese homemade dishes. It’s within a 10-min walk from the JR station. The public bath is open until late night.”
