It is a 10 minute walk to a blue flag beach (the second best beach we have been to in Greece - Tolo is still the best). The old town is on a par with Plaka in Athens and they're second only to Nafplio in my opinion. 3. The restaurant at the hotel was the BEST we ate at in the whole of Greece and we traveled in Greece for a month. It also had the best service in a restaurant in Greece. 4. The room was lovely, furnished well and the hotel as a whole was too. 5. The pool, while small, was adequate to cool off. 6. The breakfast was good - typical of what we'd gotten This scores high because it is one of the places in Greece where we struggle to find something negative to say. You even don`t have to leave hotel closest area all trip and you`ll not miss a thing. 4) Nice beach nearby - not to bussy, you still can get some pivacy and personal space, but civilized enough to get an umbrella, sun bed or order a good, cold coffee or have a some snack. at any moment 5) Washing maschine downstairs. We stayed11 days with a baby - no need to say how much I was pleased with that kind of extra. 6) Hotel was pleasantly quiet, altought we know almost all rooms were occupied, we felt like having our personal swiming pool and reception area. 7) We are walkers (me and my 5 months old baby), and we really enjoyed everyday walk to city center. it is good half an hour, but on one side of road you get beach promenade with relaxing beach/see/mounthain view, on opposit side - many, many shops, travel agencies, rent-a-car, tavernas, cafeterias. For non-walkers - there is buss stop few steps up to main street, buss is going up and down every 15 min. 8) Very friendly and welcoming owner Emilia and cleaning lady Georgia. They tried their best to satisfy all our needs, even those who are beyond ordinary service. 9) We had late evening flight back to home, Emilia let us stay as long is necessary (officialy we had to leave at 12 p.m.), without extra charge.”

“We stay in crete 3 times a year and always have a night in Rethymno at least twice. We have always stayed in a hotel but decided to try Lemon tree as it was right in the centre of the old town. We booked a one bedroom apartment but we were upgraded to the 3 bedroom. What can I say this place is amazing, fantastically decorated , very clean with a lovely terrace to people watch. It's a 2 minute walk to the Rimondi fountain. We are back to Crete in October and have already booked another night with friends. I would never go back to staying in a hotel now. Thank you so much to the owners we loved it!!”

Impressively its contemporary interior design and its convenient and elegant furniture very well matched with this traditional style. Roof floor offered wonderful views to Fortezza castle and to the rest of the old city of Rethymno. A spacious jacuzzi was also available on the top floor !!! I have no negative comments - I would highly recommend this place and definitely would stay there again.”
