If there is a Buffet in the evening, be there at beginning while the food is still warm. We can recommend this hotel.”

“I stayed 3 days in Sakura Villa and it was a fantastic way to finish off my 2-week-trip in SL. It is located away from the mass tourism hotels at the sea side, so I got to see the life in a sri lankan neighbourhood (actually I was at the time the only European around which evoked some curiosity and resulted in some funny and memorable occurences). Unlike the busy seaside many neighbours go around with bikes and I think biking is also a great way for guests to discover the surroundings.The sri lankan breakfast is served fresh and warm, a neighbour has a tuktuk and you can make good deals for your transportation around (small piece of advice: bargain the price beforehand; the driver will allow you to set a price that is fair for you). The caretaker does a fantastic job in the house and garden and he always got me the better deals (eg. price for a taxi to the airport) than what I could find around on my own. The pool is really great and is frequently cleaned. Around 17.00 every day you can hear the chanting from a nearby buddhist temple. The surroundings are also clean, which is not always the case in SL. All in all an uncomplicated stay and with no unpleasant surprises”

But it also takes 15-30 minutes to go to popular towns with many tourists, restaurants and activities on the beach. The hotel: It's not too big new hotel with new comfortable furniture, nice interior environment and good aura.The beaches are empty so you will also feel privacy and relax. Everyting is always perfectly clean in spite of the fact that the hotel is situated near the beach and the send is supposed to be everywhere. There is always a hot water in the batroom, an air conditioning, you can get a hairdryer if you need. The hotel is situated just 1 min walking from the bus stop where it's possible to take a bus to Colombo (1.5h) or any touristic town with shops, tourists and other things. The food: Chef is a professional. The food was very tasty and good. Gamini have been working for a big hotel for 30 years, so you will definitley feel these standards and top service while your stay. The guys who complained that railway road is to close didn't mentioned that the railway is close to the beach all over Bentota ( fancy hotel are close to it too) So if you want to live near to the beach you have to deal with it. The railway is not a problem at all. And breakfast was just amazing! A lot of fruits, toasts, jam, eggs and coffe and tea. And you can ask for king coconut, so you can take it to the beach with you. And you can ask Gamini about places in Bentota, he will show you the best ones. It was a perfect stay and this place is highly recommended by us! We would be happy to stay here once again. “The hosts are great- friendly and helpful. Although her English isn't great, she is capable of understanding and accommodating. We mentioned we were going for a walk so she unobtrusively left us out umbrellas. She then made us cups of tea with lovely ginger biscuits and also cooked us a great memorable Sri Lankan dinner. Her husband knows more English and also has a tuk tuk which is really handy! The best place we stayed in sri lanka”
