There are shutters on the balcony door which can be closed, so that it's not noisy or bright in rhe room. We slept very well. It was a joy spending 4 nights in this nice place. We felt like we stayed with the family and will be back :)”

“Silvano is the best host I've found in all my travels. Very attentive and helpful. The place is small but super cozy and functional, extremely well decorated. There is a charming terrace that we always used for a bottle of wine and some cheese while looking at the pictures we took during the day and planing the next day. Hot water in the shower and hairdryer. There was a bottle of water in the fridge and some crackers and little cakes also available, i thought that was a nice touch. The place is close to the Ursino Castle, Via Garibaldi, and the bus station, so very easy to find our way around. Many local restaurants and small markets walking distance. Silvano lives on the floor below, if we needed anything it was easy to ask. Hospitality was exceptional, we'd surely come back!”

Breakfast is from a little bar around the corner--the fresh squeezed orange juice is a must! And they will do it "take away" if you ask, so you can eat it up in the apartment with the view or at the tables inside or outside there on the square. All in all, a wonderful place to stay!”

Walking into town centre - the BnB is at the top end of Via Etnea and the historic part is at the bottom, Via Etnea is a very long walk, which is ok if you have all day to walk there and back, we decided to drive to the bottom and park. Location - While staying here we visited Punta Secca, Enna, Ragusa, Forza d'Agro and was a perfect location for this as just off the main ring road. On a personal note - this is a family home, the family are interested in what you have been doing, you sit with them in the evening on the veranda chatting away. Paolo bakes the most awesome cakes. The dogs are very friendly and came to greet us. And I can't thank them enough for the most wonderful stay. If we come back to Catania this is where we will stay again. A well deserved booking.com certificate of excellence 2015, I hope it continues for 2016.”

“I spent a week in Catania, my very first time in Sicily. The vacation was a spur of the moment decision and so was the choice of the apartment. I fell in love with the photos and every day proved me right and showed me I couldn't have found a better place to stay. The apartment: beautiful, old furniture, very pretty pictures on the walls, very comfortable. Of course it's much too big for one person. A family of four will not feel crowded here. The location: It's right in the middle of the city on a nice and safe street. I have to say I felt safe everywhere in Catania. I'm sure the reports about crime rates are not wrong but with some common sense even a woman traveling alone can walk the streets without a second thought. There is a small grocery across the street so you don't need a car for shopping. I didn't have a car and didn't feel like I needed one. The busses from Catania go to every other place in Sicily and are quite nice. But Sicily is not yet used to tourists who don't speak Italian. So you are pretty lost without someone to help you (most people don't speak English). Excursions and tours: There is so much to see in Sicily and of course I missed half of what I wanted to do. It doesn't matter - I'll come back. Of course you can rent a car and go exploring but Sicilians are nuts when it comes to driving. Most cars look like they've been attacked by angry elephants and there are lots of flowers and photographs of young people at the sides of the streets and highway to commemorate the victims of car accidents. There are many possibilities to book tours on the internet but group experiences are not for everyone. So I very highly recommend booking Daniela as a guide (which means she'll be your guide, your chauffeur, your translator and she'll make sure you meet people along the way who know something interesting.”

“The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. Due to the flight schedule, we needed to check-in early on the arrival date and check-out late on the departure date. The host had no problem with our requests. The location is excellent, Theatre Massimo Bellini is just the next door, and all other main attractions are in walking distance. The airport shuttle bus stop is 3 mins away by walk. We really enjoy the stay in Casa Teatro Massimo.”
