“It is at the most quiet part of the island. The people are helpful and really friendly. Good taxiservice from the airport and you can arrange tickets for sightseeing.”

  • “Aswan Nile Palace is a little way out of the city, but don’t let that discourage you - it’s amazingly quiet and peaceful in the area and the hosts are so helpful and can book travel into town or anywhere you need at any time. Hares, Mina and Mostafa were all wonderfully kind and very helpful throughout my stay, helping me to book transport and order food when needed. I felt completely at home in the guesthouse and made use of the pool, laundry facilities and the beautiful roof terrace every day. The towel art is by Mostafa - the friendly housekeeper!”

  • Amon guest house Review score: 10

“Really recommend going here for your stay! The host is amazing and helps you out with everything you need. He picked me up from the airport, temple and back. He also had a suggestion for a restaurant, which turned out to have great food. The place itself is also very nice, there’s fruit trees in the front and a lovely view of the water. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Thanks for all the kindness!”

“Wonderful place and pretty rooms in the middle of a peaceful oasis. The restaurant was amazing and gentle staff”

  • Golden nubian guesthouse Review score: 7

“We had the two bedrooms with air conditioning, so that was a definite positive! View on upstairs terrace was lovely. Beds comfy. Clean linen. Host organised an airport taxi pickup, and the accommodation also included a return water taxi, which we weren’t aware of. The taxi took us straight to the water taxi jetty, with minimal waiting time. King Jamaica restaurant (12 minute walk) was fantastic and excellent value (the restaurant nearby was more expensive and nowhere near as nice). Kitchen plates and glasses were clean. Shower was okay. Washing machine and clothes airer a bonus (washing was dry in 30 minutes!). Host very communicative, with prompt responses and recommendations.”

  • Nubian palace Review score: 10

“The Nubian palace is the most friendly place we have stayed in Egypt over the past two weeks, the airport transfer was very helpful, the grilled chicken was very very delicious. The room was clean with strong air conditioning, the breakfast was also nice. On the day of check-out, the driver brought us sugar cane juice on the way to the Nile Cruise. Really grateful for that. So I would strongly recommend Nubian palace, so nice, so friendly and so helpful.”

“We liked the hotel. It had great views looking over the water! It was very close to the temple. Breakfast was included for us and was great. We had dinner there too and it was good food.”

  • “Gasser is a gracious and excellent host and his staff are very helpful. Even though I arrived very late, Gasser greeted me on the other side of the river and I was taken by boat around the corner. I had to leave early each morning but the staff will prepare a generous breakfast bag for you to take away, just let them know. In the reception area, there is a fridge with lots of chilled bottled water, you can help yourself. The hotel overlooks the river and the views are exceptional. I would say this is the best place to see the Nile river. Also by the guest house is the Nile View hotel which has a restaurant right by the river - the chef cooked an excellent dinner of fried fish, one of best meals I had in all my time in Egypt. This is a really good place to stay if you are travelling on a budget and highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay on Elephantine Island at Aswan. To get on and off the island, starting from 6am, the local ferry is a 15-minute walk away and costs 10 EGP one-way.”

“The owner Gasser was amazing. Check in and check out was smooth. Loved the terrace area and our room balcony with a Nile view. Easy access to and from island by regular and cheap boat service. Gasser makes the best cold (non-alcoholic) refreshing hibiscus drink I've ever had. No one else makes it like him. Even if you don't stay at the accommodation go for this drink.”

  • The Mango Guest House Review score: 9

“I’m convinced this is the best place to stay in Aswan. It might be a little bit hard to find in the island, but there were locals who kindly showed me the way upon my arrival. There’s a beautiful garden, the staff is friendly and the room is very nice. The breakfast they serve is superb and you can also buy water and soda’s for a good price instead of having to go to a shop. Extra points for having the goodest dog in Aswan.”
